AUTOart 918 Spyder Weissach Package – White/Martini Livery

Another AUTOart upcoming release features the 1:18, composite model with opening parts.  Well everything is accessible except the rear hatch that houses the muscle.  On the flip side the Martini livery plays well on the exterior lines and removable top is a nice touch too.  The AUTOart 918 Spyder is expected this coming June.

The lack of openable engine cover makes the model to be similar from Minichamps with the best price of latest.

The fact the MC has the same not reachable engine thing, can confirm the fact that they didn’t get the license for it. Seeing the other new stuff from AA makes me still doub about it though. Would be great if it turns out that loosing a screw would fix it…..

I deliberately didn’t buy the minichamps version thinking I would stick with AUTOart as “it will offered greater detail albeit at a higher price” but now it’s out and it’s resin??????? And no removable engine cover???? It led me straight to eBay and minichamps. Such a shame

I have had the Minichamps 918 for quite a while now as I didn’t want to wait for AUTOart’s.. at the time I rue the inaccessible engine & then thought perhaps I would have no choice but to wait for AUTOart’s 918 with hopefully an access to the engine. Well, this is rather disappointing now & the only thing going for AA’s 918 are the retractable rear wing, removable top & the Weissach kit. I do wonder what’s the big deal with Porsche & their hybrid engine licensing issue seeing as both Mclaren & Ferrari have no qualms in letting their respective P1 & LaF engines to be showcased by diecast scale model manufacturers. Its not as if the 918 is still a concept car with top secret hybrid technology that is yet to go into production

The most interesting news about coming soon AutoArt’s Porsche 918 Spyder was the opening engine compartment. Now we know it will be closed, why should we have any interest in a replay in composite when Minichamps already offered the same model in Diecast for less?

The wing is functioning folks…ahhh is the wing that makes the difference…but is the wing that counts they said (AA anonymous)
