It’s that time of year again, manufactures preparing for the big show, the German Toy Fair that is. News are plentiful this time of year too, and AUTOart is no exception to the rule. This morning the team provided us collectors with a little insight on future releases. The first is the 1:18 McLaren P1 GTR. Great news initially, but the promise of something great is subdued due to the model being sealed, with only the doors opening. The McLaren will also come from their composite series.
Race fans will appreciate the upcoming 1:18 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in full livery. The green machine is looking fine all dressed up! No word on complete livery list or colours for the McLaren P1 GTR at this time, stay with DiecastSociety.com for the latest!

Has anybody ever thought that there might be a reason why a model just has opening doors or is sealed. Its not because they want to piss you off. It probably makes a potentially 280 dollar model a 190 dollar model.
There are many possible reasons – manufacturer instructions, technically not feasible, or cost-cutting. But I would rather pay more for a properly detailed model than less for a sealed one. So they get $0 from me.
This P1 GTR model is definitely properly detailed and falls into the “pay more” category but is also sealed. What do you think of it as an alternative to the AA? Too much? http://www.specialoperationmodels.com/products/tecnomodel-1-18-mclaren-p1-gtr-road-legal-exclusive-to-som-25-pcs
Oh I’m the wrong person to ask about sealed models haha. Can’t stand the things. Yes, they’re all overpriced, apart maybe from Otto
There is no justification, pricewise. The most expensive models are in fact usually the sealed ones (excluding CMC and Bauer) and this does not, on most, appear to correlate to a greater exterior detail.
I say exterior, because that’s all you ever see.
The engine in the road going version was such a disappointment that shutting the lid on this one won’t bother me. I just hope they get the stance right, often a detail over looked but oh so important!
Autoart with fewer openings (If not sealed) plus overpriced model equals “Not gonna touch it”. I’m a professional collector with about 350 18 scale models in my stable. Sad to say that my favorite manufacturer is a bit over priced to a lot of collectors. Hence, stopped collecting already. I just enjoy the ones I have.
