Info on Hot Wheels Elite Ferrari collection

Post by Canadian Wrench Head » Fri Nov 28, 2014 6:04 pm

Hi Everyone!

Im just starting to get into collecting Hot Wheels Elite 1:18 Ferrari models. I have been searching quite a bit online but there are a few questions that I would like to get answered.

1. Why do some 1:18 Ferrari models come in a see thru clear box and other are an enclosed box.( I'm assuming the see thru boxes are older Elite models that were release years ago as they look older)

2. Are there any discontinued Ferrari models? Someone told me the F40 is discontinued.

3. Where is the best place in Canada (Ontario) to find Hotwheels Elite Ferrari models?

4. Do hot wheels elite make Lamborghini 1:18 models or only 1:43

5. Is there a list anywhere with the original release dates of the Elite Ferrari 1:18 models??

Thanks for all the help. Any links to information on Hotwheels elite Ferrari models would be greatly welcomed. Im looking to get as much info on collecting these models as I can

Hi, wexlomw to DS!

1) There are Elite and Foundation models. The Foundation are usually red and feature the window box style. Also there are older models under the 'Elite' brand that were developed with Kyosho that feature the window box style too.

2) Yes many models have sold through, which has created more demand, and in some cases prices have doubled and tripled...

3) Toronto Motorsports! Also checkout the 'LINKS' section under Canadian retailers.

4) No 1:18 scale Elite Lamborghinis exist today

5) Try Scale18.com, though the list isn't updated anymore :(

does anyone have any pictures of telling the difference between the old Elite and the new elite packaging?

For example, I have noticed that many of the elite 288 GTO die cast are in the black see thru packaging. Would this be an older 288 GTO that was developed with Kyosho? Is there a 288 GTO that comes in the none see thru box like the new LaFerrari>

Im just trying to do as much research as I can so that when I'm searching online I can tell the differences between them so I know what I'm getting. lol

No sir.

Sorry I missed this era of Hot Wheels Elite. The black window style is just prior to Hot Wheels Elite moving to the closed Styrofoam shell:

The following is from the vintage Kyosho/Hot Wheels Elite:

I believe that came after the 458 Coupe.
