About the Porsche 356 GTL Abarth… “The 28th 24 hour Le Mans RaceHerbert Linge and Heini Walter raced in the Abarth 1960 and finished 10th overall.The Porsche 356 is the first batch model from Porsche. The classification 356 is the serial number of this Porsche construction. The publication of the Porsche 356 took place on July 7th 1948 with a test report about the Porsche Coupé. In April 1965 the production of the 356 ended. Until then 76.302 units were built.Herbert Linge was born in Weissach in 1928; he was one of the first trainees of Porsche in 1943. Later on he was a big factor in the buildup of the Porsche customer network abroad, especially in the USA.Heini Walter was born in 1927 in Alpthal, he was a Swiss amateur race driver, who participated in hill climbs and round racing courses in the late 1950s in a Porsche car. Until the mid-sixties Walter participated in further hill climb races with various Porsche models.”
