Wow indeed. Many a time I’ve heard collectors saying that 1/18 models have more detail. Apart from the pricey handbuilds, this may once have been the case but not anymore. Manufacturers like Matrix put so much detail in their models it just blows you away. Proportion-wise it may not always be a 100% correct but that’s just the way it is in this scale. Matrix claims these are hand build as well but since I bought a whole bunch of them for around 50 euro, you just wonder how they keep their cost so low.

    • JS Coleman says:

Smaller scale models have more detail than ever before, yes indeed – but bigger does of course offer the greatest detail; engines for example.

That said, the rise of sealed 1/18th at ridiculous prices does make small and good-value ones like these look all the more palatable.

  2. MLB says:

The equation of low prices on these is simple: They crank these out like sausages – mass production, and the hard costs of their Chinese labor is dirt cheap, which all equals very low prices.

On a more positive note; they do offer a very interesting range, and some of their models (but not all) are really very well done.
