My quest to expand my Corvette collection continues the latest addition is the AUTOart 1962 Chevrolet Corvette with removable hardtop, a limited edition model of 6000 units worldwide.   Subtle changes adorn this era of Corvette, the side cove vents and addition of the lower rocker panels are the two most notable changes.  This is most definitely another fine replica from the team at AUTOart, a true gem that can be found for well under $100 today.  With this level of detail, the AUTOart 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is a true steal!

 

The exterior lines as with past Corvette models I reviewed are well replicated and do justice to the original.  Panel gaps are very good thought some areas could benefit from a little further refinement.  Shutlines as most AUTOart have proven are a very good too, most likely better defined here than the original car.  The exterior Roma Red is rich and deep, I find no faults with the paintwork.  Chrome reproduction is excellent; you’ll find a lot on this model is you’re a fan of it!  One of my favourite areas of the car is the front fascia, something about it that screams performance, class, America muscle.  The rear end is a classic Corvette featuring beautifully crafted dual taillight, even more chrome, and a well detailed 3D logo found centre on the rear hatch.  Overall AUTOart 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is very well executed.  Though I do have one complaint, the side emblem on my car is off centre on the driver side panel (attached photo will elaborate more).

Wheels are a big part of a model’s success, get them right and you’re more than have way there.  Well, AUTOart got them right!  Something about a well made classic hub-cap and white tire that goes a long way.  Is it me or is there something Chevrolet and the Corvette teams know about we design?  No matter the generation there is always one wheel design throughout the Corvette platforms that leave a long lasting impact.  For me, this design is one of them.

Motor detail is exceptional too.  Based on the photos I reviewed all motor bits seem to be there and in high detail.  Again for fans of chrome, there is more eye candy for you to enjoy.  There was one slight issue with my model; one of the hoses was not connected properly to the engine component.  A little finesse and a few minutes later everything was back into shape.  If you look closely you can see the disconnected hose in the above photo.

The Corvette’s undercarriage is was an added bonus!  Slightly better than other Corvette’s I recently reviewed which speaks volumes as most of them were very detailed as well.  Motor detail, suspension components, and full flowing exhaust round out one of the best undercarriages I’ve seen in recent times.  The attached photos don’t lie, proving once again the 360 value presented by AUTOart.

The Corvette’s interior is finished in black and very well appointed.  I would have preferred a matching red interior, but the black does suffice quite well.  Dash work is beautiful, so is the steering wheels and shifter, very respectable of the original.  Even the doors cards impressed me, full of detail and again very well executed on all points.  As mentioned earlier the car is equipped with a removable hardtop.  Installation and removing it were effortless, there are pins that guide you and lock the top into place.  Overall fitment was more than respectable too.

I’ve been on a Corvette hunt for the better part of 2013, there still are a few more models I want to add, I sure with time acquire them.  AUTOart’s 1962 Corvette is an excellent value, a highly detailed model at a great price, and the added bonus of a limited edition model with a certificate. Without hesitation, I highly recommended this Corvette replica for Corvette purists or casual collectors.  Bargains are out there my friends; a little due diligence goes a long way…  Enjoy the pics!
