Once in a while comes along a special model that makes even the most seasoned collector giddy. The latest release from AUTOart, the Bugatti EB Veyron 16.4 Sang Noir, does exactly that to me. It has been years in the making, a rumored model from AUTOart for as long as I can remember, is finally available for you and me. This is a Signature series model from AUTOart and rightfully so. The exterior box is typical AUTOart/Bugatti – completely blue with the Bugatti logo in full colour on the face side. Model is also numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Mine is number #726. I’m not sure what the total production run of this model will be. Anyone?
The exterior is a work of art, but where do I start… A deserving quote from Vincent Van Gogh that can be found on Bugatti’s website: “I often think that the night is more alive and more richly coloured than the day”. Carbon fiber is perfectly executed on all panels. Weave is crisp and uniform throughout and a perfect match for the highly polished black exterior panels. Both work in harmony to create a sinister look but still hold the classic flow of the Veyron body lines. Front grilles, side cooling ducts and rear grilles are all fully perforated, which add to the overall realism. The rear features a two-tier fully functional rear spoiler (Minichamps, eat your heart out). Simple pressing on the button found on under carriage activates the spoiler to open. If I had one complaint about the exterior, it would be the lack of attention to the fueling caps. Though a minor issue it could use a little more finesse.
It’s nice to see that sometimes manufactures do listen. In the early pre-production sample images of the Sang Noir, they revealed smaller diameter wheels that just didn’t look great. Thank you AUTOart for updating to larger wheels that correctly aligns with the original car. There is a lot of detail that you can’t see behind the rim, most likely attributed to my poor photography skills, lol. What you don’t see in photos are the nicely painted blue calipers that are matched with carbon fiber rotors. The Bugatti logo in blue is also found in the center of the wheel. Lastly, what surprised me the most was the gold detailing and rivets/nuts found around the brake rotor. It’s there; take a closer look at your model!
The front features a lined storage compartment. Two struts on either side work in harmony to smoothly open and close the lid. The Sang Noir heart is found in the rear. The hatch is surprisingly easy to remove and put back in place, where it is held fast by small magnets. AUTOart does supply instructions for it, though that may be a little weary. With the rear cover removed, the heart of the beast is fully visible for the most part. What I love about AUTOart’s attention to detail is not just the fine detail on the intakes but the overall picture. Tubing, reservoir tanks, grilles, spoiler engineering, and exhaust system are all eye candy for the senses. The many photos will speak for themselves.
Underneath the model, the attention to detail continues. Metal base plate adds to the weight and overall solid feel of the Sang Noir. The suspension components are painted silver, and actually look like metal. Are they? The brake cooling and full carbon fiber rear undertray add to the overall realism. Well done AUTOart!
The interior is just as sexy as the exterior. The rich tan/orange colour is a fixture throughout the dash, seats, headliner, and carpeting. It works as well as any colour combination I’ve seen to date. Center console is accented in black and chrome. All bits seem to mimic the 1:1 car well.
An instant classic! Without hesitation I would recommend the Bugatti EB Veyron 16.4 Sang Noir from AUTOart. The model is near perfect. When you compare this piece to higher priced premium brands, the clear winner and bargain is the AUTOart replica. Yes, many variants of the Bugatti Veyron are available today, and thankfully more are on the way. This one, my friends, is a clear must-have for any collector, seasoned or not. Don’t wait too long, as I see the price on these beauties will escalate as soon as demand exceeds supply, which won’t be long… Enjoy the pics!
The only non-vulgar Veyron. Wish I could afford it, but the Jag D-type takes precedence
Great Review !!!!!
My wish list <3
Thanks for a excellent review
Hi and thanks for the review can u change the wing position when its up like doing the air brakes or something
There is slight movement on the top to adjust pitch, the lower of the two spoilers does move slightly more.
Hi there, I just got my Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition. When I look at your photos, it seems as if front wheels and steering wheel were misaligned with the steering wheel turned to the right when the wheels point straight on. Mine has the same problem. Plus, the steering wheel jumps to the right, once you turn in the front wheels into any direction. Have you noticed any of this on your Veyron?
Common issue, you can force the steering wheel back to alignment by using one hand to hold the wheels and the other hand to force the steering wheel back into proper alignment. Just be careful not to break anything. I too have the the SS WRC, haven’t noticed the issue but review will follow soon!
I have reviewed the Veyron Super Sport black/orange and limited World Record Edition on the German website Auto&Modell:
http://www.auto-und-modell.de/pages/unter-der-lupe/1325/Weltrekord-Der-Bugatti-Veyron-Super-Sport-von-AUTOart-118/
I could translate it into English if you would like it on DS. If not, I am looking forward to yours in order to see whether you agree.
Not required but thank you.
You say these veyrons commonly have problems with the wheels. Does the minichamps Bugatti Veyron Supersports have this issue too. Also do all Bugatti’s have this problem. I would not expect cars of this price to have a problem like this on so many models.
Why is the price between the Supersports and the Sang Noir differ so much?
The SS was released in a limited edition “World Record” edition which included slight differences from the regular car. This could be the difference.
It’s a limited edition (1000), plus it comes with a special booklet. Oh and most of the price differences you see on ebay are fabricated.
The prices differ about $50 USD.
I bid
$5,000 for it.
Hi
At the moment I have to choose between a 1:18 autoart bugatti veyron 16.4 ice blue/white and an autoart black mclaren f1. Both are around $120. Which would you recommend?
At that price I’d buy both! If you can only choose one I would buy the McLaren, there are a lot more Veryon’s than McLaren’s available today.
Hi
Thank you very much. I have really been battling with this decision. Yeah I bought quite a few models this month so my budget is exhausted and I expect him to sell the models pretty fast but if the veyron should still be available, I will get it a little later
Which would you say is the overall better model. I have don’t have and have never owned a veyron before but I do have a few ut mclarens (which obviously don’t compare to autoart) , but are still relatively nice display pieces
Both are nicely executed, though the McLarean does have more detail. But the win for looks goes to the model above!
I bought both models. In fact I paid $260 and got both plus a silver autoart porsche carrera gt as well with them
Cameron , If you look you can see a ” Green Eyed Monster” standing at my side……Quite a nice deal sir ! I ,after thriving on a diet of CMC lovelies I am hooked of late on the lofty echelons of Autoart’s stratosphere where dwell the Koenigseggs and Bugatti Veyron’s Prices are at times dizzying, but holding one imparts a certain feeling of finesse and depth of detail that work on making you forget what is sensible to spend on a diecast when your budget is screaming rent ! utilities !!, Food ??…….Oh well . I actually just caught a break on a Pearl blue over white Veyron 16.4 needing some repair. Those wouldn’t have been my 1st color choices ,but while reading a bunch of review
SORRY……….I accidently hit submit, As I was saying I was reading a bunch of reviews, and opinions and it turns out that the color combination I purchased is a favorite of many………I just knew it would grow on me !
