We haven’t seen the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster is scale since the Maisto version back in the nineties.  Just recently the team at GT Spirit released their version of 1:18 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR and CLK GTR Roadster.  Both completed in Silver exterior, each is made of resin and sealed.

I personally opted for the Roadster.  Since I already had the diecast version from Maisto, which is fully opening too and has the ability to remove the entire rear section. On the flip side the overall execution is less than desirable on some levels, hence the need for update.  This is where GT Spirit steps in.

Out of the box the model sure has presence!  What you get with the Spirit version is a long and extremely low stance model.  Something lacking from the Maisto – basically folks she’s all dialed in.   Paint work is very good.  Carbon fibre work is better executed on the front chin spoiler versus the rear spoiler.  Intakes on both drive and passenger side are fully defined too.

The CLK GTR Roadster is ultimately a race car for the street.  The exterior is laced with metal clamps that allow one to the remove the complete front clip and rear.  In this case you cannot access either as the GT Spirit version is sealed.  I will give GT Spirit thumbs up for using metal clamp-like pieces rather than paint.

The front section is executed fully with perforated bits, only exception is the upper centre grille. Based on the size this doesn’t detract from the overall look at all.  Headlight detail is very good, providing the end user with depth and realism.

Rear is much the same.  All opening again and completed with perforated grilles.  There is a bonus too; the upper cooling intakes are perforated as well.  This definitely adds some class to the overall look and feel.  Taillight detail and materials are above average too.

The turbine wheels on the CLK GTR Roadster are nicely crafted.  Each features drilled rotors and Black painted calipers.  The entire package is typical GT Spirit quality. Well done!

Inside the CLK GTR Roadster is quite easy to photography since the roof is removed.  Interior detail is good, a host of painted bits are nicely defined.  Seat features White insets and quality fabric seat-belt harness.

I must admit, I’m pleasantly surprised with GT Spirit’s version of the CLK GTR Roadster.  Overall the model satisfies with solid workmanship and clean execution.  Also zero quality issues to report too.  Something most cannot say with the latest batch of models from the brand.

If you’re a fan of Mercedes-Benz and want a step from the Maisto version of the CLK GTR Roadster, the GT Spirit piece is well equipped.  Yes there is no access to internal bits but the overall realism and authenticity is better captured in this package.  Also we get to enjoy a roadster.  Enjoy the pics!
