Amalgam has been busy at work on several projects linked to the McLaren marque. A total of four new cars are coming from the brand very soon. They include the McLaren 675LT, 675LT Spider, 650S Can Am and 570C. Each is completed in 1:8 scale, and each features some of the best techniques, implementing over 2000 parts, and roughly 350 man hours to complete one pre-production sample. For the first one on DiecastSociety.com Amalgam is giving us a detailed look at the early stages of research and development. Enjoy!

I wonder how much…
350 man hours of development @120$/hr that’s 42k That needs to be amortized on maybe 30 models: at least 1400$ per model for the development alone.
Assembly time per model roughly 100 hrs @75$/hr plus material let’s say 700$: 8.2k
Total $9,600 minimum selling price, I would guess over 10k -12 k easily
For today, the price on Amalgam’s official website: the 570S, 650S Can Am, 675LT Spider, and 675LT all have the same price of: £4,650/$6,333.30. If you want to purchase ANY ONE of them, you should start saving today.
For the real one or the model? For that price I’m getting the real one.
You’re lucky. The US website has a markup to $7500 or $1,000 more expensive! And why?
So not a kit, then ?
Over 2000 parts and not having opening hoods is really disappointing.
I think what is more disappointing is that this car is made of plastic.
