Authentic Collectibles 1:18 Holden VE Commodore SSV (full opening diecast)

I found out about a new 1:18 diecast offering yesterday from one of my Pontiac G8 FB owner pages: https://www.authenticcollectables.com/collections/holden-ve-commodore-ss-v-series/1-18-scale-models This is a link to the manufacturer's website. Authentic Collectibles seems to have entered the diecast...

Re: Totally new to the model scene so don't blast me!!!

My very first car was a pebble beige 1995 Nissan Maxima with black leather interior. I loved that car with every bone in my body. My girlfriend complained about being #2 (and she had good reason to lol) I cannot for the life of me find anything about it in diecast. I've even tried it's Japanese cou...

Re: Why Isn’t 1:24 scale popular?

I am first and foremost a model builder, so 1/24 and 1/25 has always been something I pay attention to. I think a lot of the previous comments nail it. Some of my own thoughts are: - 1/24 is heaven for a builder: lots of subject matter - diecasts in this scale are typically more toylike and other th...

Re: Lengthening Diecast Metal Body: What is the best way?

Thanks for the information, FrenchToast. I agree with your caution on safety: I wear eye protection and mask when cutting metal using a rotary tool. I try to avoid high speed cutting where possible, and go by hand, but sometimes it is necessary. on adhesives: I have tried JB weld, as well as fiber r...

Extensive repair job on resin model.

So along with my other diecast (metal) bodywork thread, I am trying to document what will be required for an extensive repair to a RESIN model. I know enough about resin model building to know that superglues (CA) are often the preferred method of fastening resin parts together (plastic modeling cem...

Re: Lengthening Diecast Metal Body: What is the best way?

Some of the other bodywork techniques I am aware of for working with diecast: - Can cut the metal pretty easily. I have used small rotary tool with cutting wheel (dremel), I have used modelling razor saw, hacksaw blade, jigsaw, and even scribing tool or back of hobby blade to score along panel lines...

Lengthening Diecast Metal Body: What is the best way?

So.... this might actually be best suited to a model building forum, but die-cast metal isn't a primary choice of builders, so I thought I would start here. First of all, let me state my purpose in creating this thread: To identify the BEST ways to work with cutting and joining diecast metal. I have...

Re: AUTOart: The Concept Behind Composite Models

Coming from the world of plastic models, I see some of the benefits of composite materials in a diecast model. I like the feeling of a model built from metal. But it has its place, just like resin. My problem is exactly what you are saying: the creep in price and under delivery of the execution in t...

I'm equally surprised that the MiniKraft Audi RS7 is in the top ten, but it's a pleasant surprise! :)

Kyosho Urraco Headlights

OK I apologize if this topic has been covered somewhere (I searched but no hits) Bought something from my wish list, a new, unopened orange Kyosho Urraco Rallye (Bob Wallace car with the wing.) Brand new out of the box, I notice the passenger side headlight peeks open slightly when closed. From sear...

Best way to clean old adhesive residue from old stock model

Like the title says, I have recently bought a new (unopened, old stock) model (kyosho) that had the round stickers still on it. They were stiff and very hard to lift off, and left a fair amount of glue residue. Now I can think of a few things that will take it off, but I want to strike the perfect b...

Re: 2016 MODEL OF THE YEAR Selection! PLEASE RESPOND!

Question: do you run a separate category for modified re-issues of older models? I am a model builder and in the plastic kit world, it would often be considered a different category from the "all new" models. Just something to consider, in addition to the "best budget" idea (which I like, but where...

Re: Hi Guys, looking for some LED help?

Wow that's the extreme end of ingenuity using a microprocessor and IR remote like that. Love the idea though: if you have it permanently powered up with a little power jack in the display case as mentioned with the phone charger step-down idea, you can keep it locked in the case with the remote outs...
