So what's your take on the NHL strike?

Everything not diecast related; and yes that includes the kitchen sink!

So what's your take on the NHL strike?

Post by [KRAFTIG] » Sat Sep 22, 2012 1:31 pm

In my opinion both sides are selfish pricks! Why don't both sides agree to cut costs on both sides and lower ticket prices dramatically across the board. I'm not a happy fan this fall, no I'm not! :nt:

In fact, everybody loose in this story :shame:

I'm not sad for those players who got more money in one of year of salary, then most of us in 35-40 years of works.

It's hard for the city who got a team, because restos and stores will loose a lot of money, also many peoples whit small salary will loose their work.

I understand that players of today are young business men; they try to get the better conditions of works :money:

But they are so far of the fans, they dont know what is the real life.

It's possible that many ordinary peoples will loose interest in hockey if the strike go on for the whole season.

Most definitely it hits had to the smaller business that rely on revenue from merchandise, food, and alcohol sales. At the end of the day it is a business, as selfish as both parties are. In my opinion the fans should take a stand, boycott the game after the strike is settled, you'll see how fast them ticket prices would fall. But in the end its a pipe dream to believe we fans can unite here... :money: :money: :money:

When I was young we got players like Guy Lafleur in Montreal, he score 30-50 goals by year for a salary of what ?

Probably around 50,000 - 75,000 $ ??

Today we have guys like Andrei Markov and Scott Gomez, In a season both score less then Lafleur in 10 games and they received milions in salary.

It's out of control, also, who can assist to a game in the NHL at 200 $ for a ticket, 20 $ for the parking, 12 $ for beer ?

Greed and capitalism are the theme of the day. Your perspective from the golden age to players of today sums it up well...

I hate any of these lockouts... NHL or NBA... it's just a battle between millionaires and billionaires who puts greed in front of everything else.

agreed...in these economic conditions for both the owners & players to be complaining when they're pulling in the kind of cash they are, really makes me sick.

It's hard to beleived, but the way that it goes, it could be a whole season without NHL hockey this year

For the fans it's an insult; they are not respected

I hope that hockey fans will take those time to adopt new hobbies; make sports; go to the gym or others...

This way, when the strike will be gone, they dont return to saw Hockey games :tut:

Maybe not in Canada, but for small concession this strike could be painfull.

For me, real hockey was play before 1990, my interest since that is not the same.

Nothing news about that ?

Is it possible that we get a half season after the holiday ?

Maybe. It seems they have made some progress, but are still apart on 2-3 issues. Let's hope for the best!
