Very large scale fire truck !

Post by CarcrazyinArkansas » Sat Sep 05, 2020 5:14 pm

This behemoth wooden fire truck was handcrafted a number of years ago by Grandad's Toy Shop of Franklin, NH. To the best of my knowledge the company is defunct as I could not find any pictures of the truck nor any pertinent information pertaining to the company in numerous on-line searches. The truck was found by the curb and had been advertised as a "freebie" in our neighborhood on-line website. It was quite dusty and had a large chunk of the front bumper cracked off, the ends of the ladder had been gnawed thoroughly by a large mammal, and the bell hidden under the hood wasn't working. Also the water hose reel was loose and out of place.

The truck was cleaned, the bumper was repaired and the ladder's gashes and holes filled and stained. The bell and the hose reel were made operable, too.

This truck is exceptionally large and designed for a small tot to ride on. It weighs twelve pounds, is 34.5 inches long, 10 inches wide and 14 inches high!

I think it's a cool piece and compulsively, just had to repair it. LOL

Thanks for looking ...........

Isn't a wooden fire truck oxymoronic?
