My first garage diorama

Post by GP246 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:42 am

Did Anyone make diorama ?

I present to you my first one, i't take about a day to do it.

First the sketch

Image

yes i'm a Picasso :?

First i made the box to have a idea of what i'ts gona look with a car

Image

All the wall is made with foam board

Image

You have to draw your plan on the foam board and after that you cut with a knife

Image

Second step is to made some crack to have a realistic look for the block and you can do it whit just a pencil

Image

To do my garage door i took a piece of carton and i take off the paper to have just the inside.

For the decoration i made a print on a heavy paper to have rigidity whith the 1/18 scale.

Image

Now a preview whit the tool's ;)

Image

Now i put some paint on the wall whith Acrylic

Image

Image

Cut my wood to fix on the wall later it's Balsa , it's very easy to work with that kind of wood.

Image

Before putting glue you have to check every piece if it fit well.

Image

Now that every piece is ok you can put some paint on, and fix it.

Image

Image

It's looking good but not finish.....

Image

Some decorations....that's better

Image

I made a little window to give a touch of realism, not hard to do, just take a plastic film and fix it with glue.

Image

Now take a look of the finish product with the ceiling.

Image

Image

Image

Image

And don't forget a garage is not a garage without this masterpiece.............the calendar :D

Wow, outstanding! To me, a diorama means buying anyone of the TSM pit crews and adding a car to it.

It's not difficult to do, go ahead and make your own and show it to us.
You just have to remember one thing......the scale, divide everything by 18. :okay:

Hi GP246,

Great tutorial!

Did you use a normal glue to put the foam boards together?

You can put white glue or just fix it by the back whit masking tape if you don't want it permanently.

Thanks! I am thinking of doing a small diorama but I still need to figure out the dimension of the 1:1 garage.

First thing to do a good sketch to give you an idea of the final product. :rotfl:

Image

After that you must calculate everything, door, Windows Wall.

You can print some decorations on a heavy paper whit the good scale.

Image

You can made belt whit a rubber band and a small image that you rap around

Image

To made coil spring take a book or a calendar whit a coil and cut it to made beautiful coil spring
