Glue - painted metal to plastic ?

Post by luft911 » Thu Jul 16, 2020 12:32 pm

Hi Guys ,
I'm curious what people are using for simple repairs on diecast models ? I've got a Porsche dealer edition ( Autoart ) '74 Martini Turbo RSR 2.1 that had a door handle fall off . I'd assume it was assembled with some kind of white glue given the plastic handle was glued directly to the painted door . I'm looking for the best repair I can make w/o having to worry about getting a toxic glue smear on the paint . For all the diecast models I've bought over the years this is the first time ( knock on wood ) that I've had this problem .
Thanks,
Bryan

The glue you need is Microscale Kristal Klear. Use a toothpick to add a tiny dab to the whole and then use forceps to put the door handle in. Don't squeeze too hard, or it may fling off and go flying towards the paint or window. Kristal Klear cures clear, as the name suggests, and it should be a seamless repair.

^ Thanks ! I've kept that model in my case for quite a while w/o it and it finally occurred to me that I should finally address the problem .

You can use 87062 Tamiya CA cement (Quick type). Glues matall and plastic.

^ I did get a bottle of the Kristal Klear - worked great . Been looking at that RSR sans driver side door handle for far too long !
Thanks
