Porsche 928

Post by damnyouebay » Sat Nov 26, 2016 5:12 am

Gonna have a go at making my dream 928.

Will use this blue Autoart as base.
Image

Image
Nice old school Milennium quality with fabric seatbelts front and rear.

Image
Forgot to take a before picture of the engine AGAIN, but no worries when you have the internet. Not a great looking engine, with a few strange solutions and some really bad parts in places. Its a really dramatic engine in real life, love the spider intake.

Image
The engine in parts, except the orange air funnels, I will be replacing the stock ones with those. They are bigger, but thats a common look on real cars. Orange is not, and I planned to repaint them black, but they match the orange strip on the air box so now I am tempted to leave them orange for some bling.

Image
Current state of the engine. Sanding, repaint, worn look and 32 metal bolts. Most of those will be invisible, lol. The connections for the spider legs are scratch made and more accurate. Clamp tighteners will come later. The cam covers in the background were gloss black, but I cant find any pictures of them being black. The covers will get photo-etched Porsche logos later, same with the missing emblem on the spider.

Now the "big" (small) job begins, making all the pieces that Autoart didnt want to make.

Oh, and the phone dial wheels will be swapped for Cups. Also lowered slightly.

Looks better already. Where are the clamp tighteners gonna go? And what do they even look like

Haha!

That should be fairly easy, Wes. Just 16 pieces of styrene rod, drill small holes in the middle and insert screws. Then glue all the bits on.

Don't do styrene. Do a thin steel tube instead

Hi, the1! Nah, I think he is just kidding. I am doing a Hakosuka for Stratos, but I dont think I will do more "customer" work. Too much to do, not enough time. Sorry!

If that changes I will send you a pm.

Edit: Styrene is so much easier to work with, W.
