Philip's collection

Post by Philip » Sat May 17, 2014 8:05 am

First off, most of my models are back in their boxes once I photograph them. Unlike you guys on here, I have yet to organise myself some cabinets and display space!

It's somewhat ironic that my first model post on a diecast forum is of a resin model, but it's a belter from Minichamps. It's their stunning, sealed-body resin 1/18 Mulhner M-Sport Porsche 911 GT3-R. If anyone is into their GT racing, you need one of these..they are superb!

I bought mine from Modelissimo in Germany for 49 Euros + 10 Euro postage. Half what I would have paid for the same model in the UK! I can't praise Modelissimo enough. He has a huge range of models, and always has great reductions on. His despatch is also very quick.

Anyway, enough of the waffle, here's the model. Quite a few pics, but it's such a photogenic model, I couldn't stop snapping!

Time for some good ole American muscle! This is another sealed-body model, in diecast this time, by Autoart. It's their gorgeous 1/18 '05 Compuware Corvette C6R. I just love the color of this beast. :worthy:

Another Compuware 'Vette. This is a full-detail '03 C5R, again from Autoart. Buying a' Vette is like opening a tube of Pringles....1 is never enough!!

Thanks, although I'm not happy with the white balance on the C3-R. There is a blue tint to the pics. I took the pics with a Canon 5D Mk1 which, while a great camera, has a useless screen which makes it impossible to judge the white balance if shooting in full maunual. I have since set the white balance to 'Auto' and that seems to have helped somewhat.

Great pics. You really bring out the colour. The yellow on the corvette looks so juicy. Keep em coming

Ok! ;) Judging by your sig, you may well like this. It's Sunstar's Alitalia liveried Lancia Stratos, surely one of the most iconic rallycars of all time! Sunstar aren't in the same league as Autoart or Minichamps for quality but, for the price, they do produce some nice models.....apart from their latest Metro 6R4 models, which are woeful! I bought the McRae Rothmans version, and had to have it replaced twice before I got one with no defects...almost! The Otto ones are much better!

These are smaller than I normally post, but they were for another forum, which limited the size of pics quite severely.

Edit. Just found larger photos.

I'm a fan of the Alitalia livery. The Kyosho example looks brilliant

Oh I love that 131. It's one of my holy grails. I don't have anything by Sunstar. Shame to hear that about the 6R4, cause I've been wanting to get one. I don't buy the Otto version cause I dont collect sealed models. Guess I'll take my chances with the Sunstar version, cause I really want that Rothmans.

Wow! What a photography skills!
Fantastic photos.
Collection is great but nothing is better than Alitalia cars.
Sun Star Stratos looks great. I thought it was Kyosho until I read the description.

P.S. I think I can't see members signatures

Some pics of the 6R4. It's a shame about the QC issues with the Metro, as Sunstar can get it right when they try....the Gp A Impreza rallycars (I have 2 versions) are excellent, perhaps their best models yet!

I should say that there are a few paint blemishes on this model which I Photoshopped out!
