Howdy all! New to this forum but not new to model car collecting. Had a sizable collection (about 200+ cars) a few years back which I sold off when I decided to stop collecting and pursue a different hobby. But in the last 12-18 months I've slowly started to build up a new collection. This time im focusing on the more premium brand items such as Aa, Kyosho etc rather than the cheaper brands I had also once collected such as Bburago, Maisto etc.. So this time its going to be quality over quantity. Display space is also a premium this time round as I have moved to a smaller premises. There are a few cars which I have had to re-purchase that I had in my former collection and wanted to have again but I guess I don't mind doing so.
This is a Ikea Stockholm display cabinet which I upgraded by doubling the shelves and I will be doing another upgrade by installing six half shelves so I can display three cars along their sides above each existing shelf. I think that will look good!
Oh yeah I have a Aa Lamborghini Aventador Roadster dark blue (74698) and Aa McLaren MP4-12c orange (76006) on their way. The Aventador should arrive today so I will post a pic later on. The 12c should arrive in a couple of weeks..
Let me know your thoughts and I hope you enjoy the photos of my small but growing collection!

moved things around a little bit and put the Aventador Roadster on display. She's a stunner that's for sure!
Also purchased a Autoart Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 Super Trofeo in yellow! Looking forward to putting that on display!

Nice mix of gems you have!!
Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
Very nice collection. I have a IKEA Stockholm as well the yellow one where I display mostly my red Ferrari and other red Italian street/race cars. Yellow is the color of Modena and it fits very well with red.
Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
Thanks guys!
Atalante, that was a great idea matching your display cabinet with your Ferrari's! Have you posted up photos of it? I'd love to see that!

Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
just a little update to my display cabinet setup.. I installed only six of the seven half shelves I had cut as I somehow managed to buy two few brackets so I'll pick them up tomorrow and fit up the last shelf. Still need to update the lighting as its a bit dim in many spots. Its late in the evening and I need to get to sleep so I just threw all the cars back in so they will be re-arranged over this coming weekend as its not how I want them. Also still waiting for my 12c & Super Trofeo models to arrive which will land sometime next week. Curse you regular speed post.. Here is a pic anyways..
Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...

Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
my McLaren 12c arrived today! woo! it certainly is a lovely thing indeed! yes the ride height is a little off but its not too bad and the rest of the cars beautiful features more than makes up for it! Well I'll keep telling myself that considering how expensive it was!
Loving the color! the paintwork is exceptional!
Beautiful from all angles!

Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
Only problem with the 12c is the wrong rear ride height. Huge fail on AUTOart's part.
Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
Agreed. I don't particularly like dismantling my models but I wonder how hard it would be to correct the ride height?
Re: My 1:18 model car Collection...
I can't be bothered. BUT AUTOart should never have released it with this issue. I hammered them on the review for it!spanner wrote:Agreed. I don't particularly like dismantling my models but I wonder how hard it would be to correct the ride height?
