Lovely add! I have sitting right next to me, it is a terrific model. Like you said perfection is extremely close. If you are a fan, save to get one. This piece is with 10 average models! :geek:

Time for a new addition again. As a big fan of Japanese classics, the new AUTOart 1973 Toyota Celica 2000GT was a must have for me. As always AA has done a splendid job on a classis Japanese car!

The colour will stay but I would love to swap the oem wheels for some vintage JDM wheels and maybe add overfenders. I doubt I will ever get to it, my backlog is enough to keep a whole company occupied for years

Finally found some time to make photo's of a model that came in about 1,5 months ago. It's the Kyosho re-release of the BMW 2002 Turbo. Iconic BMW and also a model I never bought before. Model is pretty good, must say.

Next up is not a new model, far from it, but a small mod project. I have had the F40 competizione from Hotwheels Elite in my collection for quite some years. But like (almost) every Hotwheels Elite it suffers from paint rash. In this case quite substantially. So time to start a small project. Some parts were saved by a good wet sand and polish, but some parts were too far gone, especially the front clamb shell and the doors. So these were resprayed.

But, this was not the end of the project. A long, long time ago, early 90's, I followed the Dutch Ferrari-Porsche challenge very closely and also attended quite a few races at Zandvoort. One car especially stood out to me in a that time (I was in my early teens) and that was the Ferrari F40 raced by the Dutch Ferrari importer Frits Kroymans. It started as a 'normal' F40, but every year he added more and more competizione parts to that car. While restoring my Hotwheels Elite, I search for some decals from that car (from which I knew that these were made over 25 years ago) and after months of searching someone in France offered a set of the 1994 season. I bought it and applied it to the car. That was also easier said than done, as the decals were made for a Bburago F40 and also the real car, at the time almost completely transformed to a competizione spec, was still running with the original front clamb shell. Obviously the competizione front has quite a few more holes in it. So the decals had to be adjusted, while being 25 years old and very fragile. But it is done now. It is not a 100% replica of the real car, but for me close enough, given the chilhood memories of it.

Well done! Did you completely strip, paint and decal here?

Nop. I was going to, but the model itself is pretty fragile, so I chickened out. In the end the doors and front clamb are sanded down and resprayed. The rest of the model is just lightly sanded and then polished. But the front clamb and doors were the worst affected parts anyway. Friend of mine is a professional car painter and he did the paint work with his airbrush set. I am, if I say so myself, good enough for small parts, but the larger ones, I haven't got enough experience yet. I have to practice on some old Bburago's first :D

Love both the 2002 & the F40. Cool livery on the F40, too.
