Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Chevrolet Corvette C7 ZR-1)
Re: Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Ferrari 275 GTB/C)
Very nice model. I have the dark blue street version but I am also waiting for this race version and the LM. The criticisms were mainly on the first red version they delivered with issues. Many improvements were done on the latest versions they shipped.

Re: Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Ferrari 275 GTB/C)
Thanks gentlemen!
Next new arrival is a replacement for my old Maisto Ferrari 550 Maranello. Although for a 20 year old maisto not even too bad a model, it developed massive paintrash over the years and investing in respraying a model like that? mwah...
So I choose to replace it with the GT Spirit 550 Maranello. The model wasn't bad when it came in (no QC issues or anything like that), but in classic GT Spirit style, they messed up something on a Ferrari again. The stance was completely wrong, wheels even sticking out of the arches and a ride height like a tractor. Gt Spirit models are super simple to disassamble, so time for modifications.
Things I changed on the model are:
- Made the stance a lot narrower in line with the real car
- Made the ride height slightly lower
- Changed the interior color to a lighter brown
- Flocked the interior in red
- Made the shutlines black

Love the car... And the updates!
I have the Hot Wheels Elite in my collection, I paid a whopping $65 CND back in 2012

The B pillars are black on the 1:1 550 Maranello. That can be fixed easily with matte black paint.

Re: Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Ferrari 550 Maranello)
How the hell I missed that... To correct the stance I looked at so many photo's of the 550, but completely overlooked the B pillars.
Thanks! It is an easy fix, so will do that when I have the time.
Re: Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Ferrari 550 Maranello)
I really disliked the 550 when it came out, having really loved the Testarossa. Now its one of my favorites. The GT Spirit looks good, but a shame you had to make those changes to make it accurate. I have the dark red non-Elite HW (which is actually pretty decent for a true budget model) & had the Maisto.

Man, that looks much better, nice mods! Makes me want to try some things to some of my GT Spirit models. Maybe you mentioned it in a previous post, but how do you do the shut lines? Carefully with thin paintbrush?
The 550 is a special Ferrari to me as the Maisto model was one of my earliest ones (sadly no longer have it or the F50 I also had), but the 550 is also the only Ferrari I've been fortunate enough to drive in real life about a decade ago. In fact, it's the only notable car I have ever driven.

That's a fantastic one to have driven. I've only driven one Ferrari as well...an '82 308GTS. Loved it, as its one of my favorite Ferraris of all time.SPhilli911 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 6:13 pmbut the 550 is also the only Ferrari I've been fortunate enough to drive in real life about a decade ago.

I use enamel paint (revell SM302, satin black) to paint them black. It is impossible to paint within the panel gaps with a narrow brush, so the technique I use is, just paint it black and remove the excess paint with paper towel, slightly moistened with turpentine. Turpentine doesn't affect paintwork, but be carefull with clear plastic like windows (I just remove the windows, super easy on GT Spirit models).
I tried with acryllic paint and water as remover, but that doesn't work. It dries to fast and it gets to wet with the water so it removes the paint in the gap as well or, if you wait just too long, the excess paint doesn't come off.

Re: Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Ferrari 550 Maranello)
Still a lot of new models to photograph, so they will keep coming the next couple of weeks. The new model I want to show this time is the Fronti-art Zenvo TSR-S. A very unique model of a even more unique car. These cars are a rare as they come (only 4 exist untill today). Proper oldskool monster with 1360HP as well. For the viewers/followers of Shmee150 this car should be familiair.
The model wasn't cheap and I'm normally not to much into the expensive resin models, but take my word for it, this model is good. The details and especially the carbon fiber work is extremely good. Not a single mistake in the weave and all perfectly scaled, even down to all the CF grilles on the car. Paint is impossible to get correct on photo's, I tried to edit them to get close enough to give an idea, but no chance. The color flip, flake and shine is ridiculous in the flesh.

Lovely add! I've been eying this one for years, I just can't bring myself to spend the money on it. Maybe one day.

Thank you for the info! I think I will give this a try because it really does greatly improve the look in my opinion. I'll just have to practice on a model I don't care about as much first.Marcel171281 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 5:59 amThanks!SPhilli911 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 6:13 pmMan, that looks much better, nice mods! Missing out on the original release, the next addition was a no-brainer. The AUTOart Lexus LFA is a must have, but the choice in colour wasn't so easy. It was between the pearl blue and pearl red, but in the end I bought the red. No regrets.
Re: Marcel's 1/18 scale collection (Lexus LFA)
Lovely add! I've enjoyed this one since its initial release. A great model from AUTOart! The LFA is currently getting praise among car fanatics. I don't collect many Japanese cars, but this one is a must in any colour you like, well, except PINK!

Nice. I got red and yellow initially and sold them both. Might get the blue
