Time for an update. The last couple of weeks quite a few models came in, but didn't have time yet to make some pictures. The first I want to show, is a model I have been looking for forever. For some reason I didn't buy it when still new available, but I regretted it more or less straightaway. And in the same time, the prices went through the roof. Luckily I found this one on a local marketplace website. It was advertised as no box, out of a cabinet (dusty) with minor damage. Made a fair offer and he agreed. Went to pick it up, to find out the model was it pretty good state. Also had a good, nice and long chat with the seller, who has over a 1000 1/18 models. It was an afternoon very well spent.

The model is the Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v Evo 2 from AUTOart. No box, a damaged mercedes star on the front and a missing antenna. Former owner already cleaned it very nicely. The star was an easy repair, the antenna will be fixed later, but that won't be to difficult either. Very, very happy with this model!!

We've all been there! A lovely addition, great model. AUTOart did place this model in production years after the initial release, they will do this again some day :okay:

I am sure they will at some point. That is also why I refuse to pay the bizarre eBay prices. I never pay more than what AA would ask if released again new.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe this model is one of the very early releases from AA. I think the second release hasn't got german license plates, but the evolution logo's instead. But I also know the very first release had a misprint on the engine (Merceds instead of Mercedes). So have there been 3 releases already or did they change the engine cover halfway through the first release?

Yes, there was an error in some production pieces. Not sure of the complete story...

Next addition. This model was on my radar for a couple of months now. I saw it in pictures on FB groups and the review on this site and liked it, but wasn't sure. Not that I don't like the Mercedes 500 SL, I love it, but the models from Norev do differ a lot in execution. So for this one, I wanted to see it in the flesh before buying. I visited my favourite shop, looked at it and in the end it was an easy decision, the model is really good. The only thing that shows it is a under 100 euro model is the enginebay. The top of the engine is there, but is it just a cover, like on the Minichamps SLS. But other than that, a very very good model. Lovely paint, good interior, photo-etched badges etc.

Norev announced a lot more Mercedes models lately, so I really hope they will be constant in execution and all of them will be like this.

Love Norev, best value for the money. I may add one to the collection someday!

I agree this model is really well done as long as you don’t look too closely in the engine bay. But considering the great value for money I don’t mind, I chose the same color combo which I love.

Great looking model & cool that they did the non-Sport trim (which AA did). Great color choice, too.

Are you sure AA did a 500SL? In know they did that in 1/43 and a 600SL with AMG pack in 1/18, but never seen a 1/18 500.

Next update. People that regularly look into this thread probably know I like my rally cars (specially Group B). A car that was very significant in the 80's rally world was the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16. It won the WRC in '85 and '86, the last 2 years of Group B, beating Lancia and Audi.

There is only 1 model available (apart from sealed stuff), which today is sold under the Norev mark. It is an older mold, previously sold as a Solido. Because of that I wanted to see the model instead of buying it online. So when I went out looking for the 500SL, I also looked at the Peugeot. It is not the best model in the world, but given it is the only option and the exterior is actually not bad at all, I bought it. The interior is also not bad. The engine is lacking in detail, but one cannot expect Kyosho 037 like stuff for this money. What I also very much like, is the seriously good paint work (like on all Norev's I have seen). Also the decals are under the clear coat or either tampo printed, the difference is hard to see, but either way, no pealing decals in the future.

You're 100% correct, AA only did the SL600...I was speaking more to the overall R129 generation than the specific 500SL model.

The next addition is probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I always said to myself to at least add one Liberty Walk car to the collection. Well the choice became very easy when AA announced the Liberty Walk Aventador limited edition, a car I saw being unveiled at the Geneva motorshow in 2018. Naturally I chose the same livery as the car in Geneva.

Great shots! I collected Liberty Walk a lot back in the day but started to thin out the collection because it became a bit too much.. But this is a great choice of color on the Aventador!!
