Nice Modifications! Exactly what is missing from the original AA.

Time for the next purchase. I pre-ordered the Schuco Mercedes 280 SL a long time ago, and it finally arrived. Nice model, with a colour combo which is hard to beat. Typical Schuco, full opening and functioning die-cast with plenty of details. Only negative is the lack of interior flocking, and although it is relatively cheap in today's world, I would have been happy to pay a bit more and have the model with flocked interior. Will add this myself in the future.

This was one of my favourite models when I had it in silver. Looks great in green as well.

I have the silver but the green looks great too. Weird you don’t mention as a negative the gaps around the hood that are huge. Bothers me much more than the lack of flocked interior.

Well I guess it is all a matter of what to expect vs what you get. If you look at other Schuco models, panel gaps have never been their strongest point, I have seen some Porsche 550's and 356's with massive gaps. But also the same models with perfectly fine panel gaps. So they are inconsistent. Also this models is a re-release (and not the first either, they seem to release a different colour every other year or so) and the original mold is not the most recent. So I wasn't expecting AA composite like panel gaps to start with. That said, I don't consider the panel gaps huge on my particular model, wider than most recent models, but not huge. So maybe the same inconsistency again? Also the colour makes a difference, with silver not being the best to hide some gaps.

The flocking is something that I was expecting though, so that disappointed me. And, in my opinion, especially on a convertible and at a price of 100 euro's flocking is not too much to ask for.

You are right color makes a great difference, darker colors are hiding quite well the gaps and silver isn't a good color for this. That being said according to my records the original mold was released in 2016 so it's not an old model just a question of inconsistency with Schuco as you pointed out.

I paid a bit more for mine, called Exklusiv version at the time and I agree that flocking should have been added. It's just that In my opinion the car looks better with the hardtop and I leave it on all the time so it's harder to notice this detail.

Bought this model a while ago, but hadn't taken photo's of it yet. Apart from older Porsche's my collection is lacking classic German cars, so to fill in some gaps I ordered this Norev BMW 507. It's a rare, but beautiful car. Norev did a nice job on this model. It is unfortunately sealed, but apart from that the model is pretty good. The paint, chrome work and interior are beautifully done. Alle the bmw badges are nice photo etched parts as well. Only negative are the shallow shutlines. I made those black on mine, otherwise it looks like it has no bonnet, boot and doors.

Yesterday I picked up the AA 720S. Must say, AA did a very good job here. The only negatives are the lack of access to the engine (but McLaren is to blame here, as you can't access it on the real car either) and the rubber seatbelts. That last thing starts to bother me. How much would that save in costs per model instead of fabric? 1 euro? come on AA, it's a no brainer. For the rest, the model is seriously good. I took the white (more silver actually), because of the beautiful tan interior and the silver wheels. Getting a bit tired of all the black wheels lately.

I have one sitting near my desk, review to come... I'll give AUTOart some credit on the motor, at least they tried to provide some sort of additional access here.

While picking up the 720S at the store, the store owner showed me some new models that came in, like we always do. One that particular interested me was the Solido Porsche 964 3.8 RS. It's in my opinion, maybe the best 911 ever made. If you normally buy brands like AA of Kyosho, the Solido is for sale for pocket change. I just had to buy this, there was absolutely no reason not to. It's my first Porsche 964 (yes I'm deeply ashamed), and I like it very much. Shame only the doors open, but apart from that, very pleased. The interior is a bit rough, but nothing a little modding in the future can't help.

Yes, solid effort but it does have some drawbacks... AUTOart needs to complete the 964 variants!

It is about time that a brand like AA (of for my part Almost Real) produces some of these 911's. Indeed for the price the Solido is solid, but if AA would make it, the Solido wouldn't be long on display in my collection. It's what you would call, a placeholder, nothing more, nothing less.
