Display cases
Sorry, if I posted this in the wrong section.
Anyone have tips on display cases? I was looking at the Ikea Detolf (or something like that), but it looks to have a little too much space between each glass plate.

Re: Display cases
Detolfs will probably be your best bet..great value for what you get and the space in between ca be solved by getting some risers..clear cups, or something else to prop up some cars. Some people put in extra shelves but that's pretty risky to me.

Re: Display cases
In fact, I bought extra shelves off another collector here and installing them right now using 3/16" wire rope clips which can be found at hardware stores. Klingsbo from IKEA is better but is twice the price and only fits 3 more models. It's also much more difficult to install extra shelves on that.
Re: Display cases
Another option is Ikea Billy cases or custom route
Re: Display cases
The IKEA Stockholm is also an interesting possibility, though not as affordable as Detolf or Billy.

Thanks for the tips, gents!
Kwando, what do you mean by risers? I looked on ebay and found some stepped acrylic stuff, but it seems its all just a fraction too small for 1:18 cars.

Re: Display cases
Thanks, [KRAFTIG] (that means powerful in my language btw, lol) those are really cool, gonne grab a few. I was thinking more of using the extra height of the compartments in the Detolf though, like steps. Maybe I will have to unleash my inner DIY.
Re: Display cases
Ha ha I know. It was a gift from an ex in the form of personalized license plate. The word struck with me ever since
Re: Display cases
I always wondered what happened to Bertby? They looked amazing and kept the dust away. I am still trying to get some as they regularly come up on ebay, but shipping is a pain due to its glass parts.
Re: Display cases
Bertby cabinets have been discontinued here in North America for last 3-4 years. I thought they were still available in Europe, no?
Re: Display cases
The last time I saw it in their local catalogue was back in 2010 I believe. I am curious if they are indeed still available in any European countries.
Re: Display cases
So we might have a worldwide ban here I think collector's around the world should unite here and sign a petition for IKEA to place the Bertby back into production
Re: Display cases
I wonder if it will have the same fate as the late PLEASE FIRE CHRIS BANGLE petition.
