I dont remember what was the selling price for the scale 1/18 Mattel Elite when they first came out. I missed buying a couple of Ferrari models like the Ferrari 512 S . Now when i search for them they have these ridiculous prices. For example the Ferrari 288 GTO is extremely expensive. I wanted to buy the Ferrari 250 California (Version Ferris Bueller) & Ferrari Testarossa (Version Miami Vice) . Both these cars are $480 CAD/each or more for Mattel Elite . These prices are BBR range. Although I like these cars , some collectors are profitting big time. The Ferraris continually show up by different manufacturers. I think it is wise to wait and buy the next release by some other manufacturer.

This is nothing surprising. As the models become rarer and rarer the prices will go north. Be patient or don't purchase any model where you believe the price of the model isn't worth the sqeeze!

Yeah, its to be expected. Diecast, limited numbers(5k or 10k runs) are going to go up. These I think retailed for $59-99 USD. I got lucky and paid $50 not long ago for a yellow 288GTO and broke down to spend $120 on a yellow F40. I've seen them for $300-500 recently on eBay. This is the nature of the hobby if you sit out initial release.

The good old days... I don't believe any brand does this anymore.

On a side note, most of Hot Wheels Elite models we purchased at less than $100 CND. Miss these guys!

definitely miss this brand. They stopped, just as they released some absolutely fantastic models, too.

The Bueller California, 599GTO, 308GTB/S & GT4, 512S...all amazing models.
