KRAFTIG...are you getting that Beetle? Looks awesome & a natural fit for your collection.

Yes I pre-ordered it. It sooo unique, something I did not know existed. I wasn't aware that the Oettinger ties extend so farGavin wrote:KRAFTIG...are you getting that Beetle? Looks awesome & a natural fit for your collection.

Before I owned a Beetle (bought as a matter of necessity) I was dismissive of them. Once I had driven it for a few months it worked it's charms on me and I was hooked. I ended up getting three in succession, so that I could park it anywhere without fear of it being stolen. It worked...... The stories I could tell about the adventures I had driving them. Roundabouts in the wet were an exercise in bravery!

I've had the same experience with the Volkswagen Golf, love them to bits!slartibartfast229 wrote:Before I owned a Beetle (bought as a matter of necessity) I was dismissive of them. How much of a contrast do you want to the Citroen rally effort in the 21st century? I know many people love an underdog, but this car was (and still is) a memory Citroen would like everyone to forget. Do a quick search for details of the results achieved, and have a little laugh. They say a car which looks fast will be. The same is probably true about being ugly - and this proves it..... Full marks to Otto though for producing it in 1/18 scale however. Why they don't convert their really nice Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4 into the rally version continues to baffle me. Unlike the BX4, I would be early on to the waiting list for one.[KRAFTIG] wrote:

I just received my Otto Opel Lotus Omega today, and again I have to say (on mine at least) the quality is up there with the best from any other manufacturer charging considerably more. However, there is no obvious sign of where the extra cost is going. And I am well aware of the reasons given by Otto. In contrast to my previous purchases, this one was at the newer price of €59.90 plus postage. I am now of the opinion that the only reason to stick with the Otto club is the guarantee of actually getting hold of one of the models, since shops often sell out quickly (if they actually get hold of supplies). Otto should seriously consider the option of club only subjects to retain support from those who order and pay in full well in advance. Or at least colour variations as sometimes produced for the big German online dealers.

Re: [2012 - 2015] OttOmobile
Today saw the arrival of another Otto 1/18th scale model, bought as an Otto club member. Subject is OT164 - Renault A310 LeMans 1977. A rather unusual subject it must be admitted, which will have a limited appeal. But I ordered one the moment it became available. Sadly there are some problems with my model in particular, and other problems which are to do with a lack of research by the Otto team. Mine has no seat-belt decals on the drivers seat, and the paint detailing around the windscreen is uneven. Worse than that though is the finishing on the car. It has two seats - like a rally car, when circuit racers usually had only one. But this is open to question. What's not open to question is the inaccurate number fonts, the shape and placement of the illumination lights and other small decal placement. I will be mentioning this to Otto - although it's too late now. I suspect they fell into an age old trap of using the modern original as a reference source. Quite often a guarantee of faults on the finished product. I will be holding on to my model if Otto send me the required decals to correct the seat belt problem. While it's apart I will correct the paint issue by hand. I will hold my hand up to being a nerd about these things - 99.99% of collectors wouldn't even suspect the decorations were a little bit inaccurate.....

Re: [2012 - 2016] OttOmobile
For half the price, one third of the price of a diecast version? I'm more than happy!

Also an e61 M5 Touring is coming. Good choice if you ask me.
