Exoto Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

Post by Sanchez » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:19 pm

With all that Corvette fuzz going on here lately I thought this model will fit in.
Model is impressive considering year it was released - 1997!
Great details all around but due to it's age there are couple of small flaws.
But to me they add to the special charming feel of roughness some Exoto models like Porsche 935 have.
Regardless I really like this model. My only Corvette BTW. Some old photos.

Thanks for sharing the pics the motor and undercarriage detail is quite outstanding! I'm on the fence whether I'm going to add one, maybe if I find one for great price.

Does Exoto ever but this beast on sale for $98? What are the flaws? TIA!

Yeah I've seen it but in other colours on their sale.
You see those vents on the hood? There are many ribs (or how do you call it) in them which are made of plastic.
Couple of them have paint chips which aren't easy to see though.
Then exhaust pipes. They are made of rubber and slightly peeling off.
But nothing too serious and I think most of these models are like that cause of their age.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. They currently have the 1963 Exoto Corvette Grand Sport Coupe for $98! Do want!

Biggest flaw is that the engine has small block-looking heads (valve cover design) but big block-looking headers (spread between the middle ports - on a small block they are siamesed). The engine should be a big block type, but from above it is all wrong.

Thank you. That is a HUGE oversight for the likes of Exoto.

Love the brutal styling on these. I have an Exoto Coupe & YM Roadster (which is very good for the price).

Its worth that. I paid $95 shipped for mine (racing version driven by Roger Penske).

It would go well with your ever expanding Vette collection.
