CMC Ferrari 250 GT Competizione (SWB)

Post by [KRAFTIG] » Sun Aug 12, 2012 8:59 am

After many die casts and many years of collecting I'm happy to announce my first CMC addition to my collection, the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Passo Cort (SWB) Competizione - jeez that was a mouth full! After seeing many photos of many CMC models my expectations were high! And let me tell you my expectations were met!! The die cast is outside my regular theme, but the lines of the 250 GT are too sexy to resist!

The die cast is stunning, I could write paragraphs about the details but I'll summarize the ones that stood out for me and the let the photos do the rest of the talking... The motor detail is the best I've since par none, the intricate detail and the quality of workmanship makes parts appear life-like. The leather work on the interior is again the best I've seen to date, and the dash/dial detail is absolutely stunning as well. The paint is so rich it looks wet, and the undercarriage/suspension is breath taking to say the least. All this does come at a cost though, $275US to be exact. Is it worth it, I don't know. I can say this is the first model I've personally spend more than $200 on and it could be possible my last... Enjoy the pics!

Thank you. I would consider CMC the pinnacle of diecast collecting. If you don't have one in your collection you own it to yourself to add at least one. Their detail is definitely at another level :worthy:

simply beautiful...really makes me wish HW had spent a bit more time/money on theirs. Its nice, but not as nice as their recent efforts & not even on the same planet as this gorgeous CMC.

I just wanted to reboot this thread of a gorgeous model. I've been thinking about acquiring one so I'm snooping around the internet looking at pictures. One thing that does jump out at me is that it does not have a number plate, which I think is unfortunate. Is the model heavy? The base chassis looks metal.

Yes quite heavy. Feels like a solid piece, like diecast should be :)

If you starting to foiucs your Ferrari collection might I also recommend this fine piece from Kyosho is you don't already own one:

Kyosho Ferrari 250 GTO :okay:

I'd like to dip into vintage Ferrari and I did own the 250GTO once upon a time but made the mistake of selling it..I'm on the look out for another one (in red, of course) but not willing to pay market prices.

Here are my CMC - Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta "Passo Corto" SWB Competizione #14 (M-079)
This is the second CMC limited edition (7,000 pieces) series Competizione model.
The original car, with chassis number 2689 GT, so-called SEFAC Hot Rod (SEFAC = Società Esercizio Fabbriche Automobili e Corse Ferrari-SEFAC S.p.A., in the 1960, it was officially named the Ferrari company). Lightweight, full-aluminum bodywork car. According to some sources, only 8 were produced. 1961 Le Mans car race was won the GT category.
One of the favorite models.

Kraftig, how's your 250 holding up? I hear the lenses fog up. How's the paint doing also?

No issues, but I have my models in sealed cases and no direct sun light.
