Cult 1:18 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ
Cult 1:18 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ
I worked in the Automotive Industry for 40 years, including for BMW, Alfa Romeo, Audi, VW and Chrysler. In that time and often based on great driving experiences, I considered several models special 'favourites', e.g. BMW 2002Tii, BMW 3.0CSL, Alfa Romeo Junior Z, Alfasud Sprint Veloce, Alfa 75 Twin Spark, Alfetta GTV6, Porsche 911, (especially pre-964 types), Dodge Viper, Audi TT, etc. But my all-time ultra favourite and holy grail is the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ Coda Tonda. I now see that Cult have produced a 1:18 model of the SZ and I'm naturally tempted to buy one. It is however quite expensive, at £150, so I'd like to be assured about the quality of the model. Does anyone here have experience of Cult products and, maybe, this particular model please?

Neat car! I know that feeling of wanting your personal fav model in the collection. As for Cult Scale, they are decent pieces, and yes pricey in comparison to other resin brands. Likely due to low production and the oddity of specimens they produce. They offer the ability of steerable wheels, not sure if this option is shared across their entire assortment though. Chances are you'll never see this model again in 1:18. They offer the ability of steerable wheels, not sure if this option is shared across their entire assortment though.
PS - Please place model specific topics under the correct forum by manufacture. This thread moved under "other", thanks.

I have about 5 Cult Scales and recently reviewed the XJR-15. I do find the turning wheels a nice addition not common to resin. I think the overall quality is good, on par or better than GT Spirit and Otto. I do not think they are worth the price once you get past about $130 USD. I feel like they should be numbered. LS Collectibles is a similar price point and quality and most their cars are runs of 250.

Thanks for taking the trouble to express your opinion JV. I have an Otto Lupo Gti in 1:18 with which I'm pleased, so your comment gives me a good point of comparison reference. I possibly shouldn't cavil at the Cult price, given that there's no other model currently in this scale of my very favourite car, but I'd agree with you that there's a price point threshold around £100/$130 - I wouldn't hesitate at that sort of level. Regards. David
