My first VW was a Mk2 Golf with a dead clutch, bought for $500. That was back in 1999. I am still a big fan of the Wolfsburg brand and their subsidiaries. At one pint I did have a MkII Jetta diesel (52HP non-turbo) and that car was like a faithful dog taking anything I threw at it. I had no idea that a fully opening diecast model of a Jetta exists, so I jumped for joy when I found that out. This is made by Mission Models, I have absolutely no idea who they are and if they plan any other models in the future (I hope so). What I know is that they are a Chinese brand and looking at an online review of it I thought that this is a Chinese Market model, because of the more modern engine. So I ordered a model in Tornado Red. I am happy when I look at this car, it truly is a good model in a similar fashion to a well made contemporary Norev. It is also priced similarly and features a diecast body with 4 opening doors, hood and trunk, steering and suspension. The engine is a pressed plate (somewhat expected as Norev does it at this price point). There is a trunk floor liner that lifts to reveal a spare wheel. This is where it gets a bit interesting: all reviews I found online so far show a 1.6-5V (whatever that means as I don't think they had a 5valve/cylinder head in this car), but the one I got seems to feature the indestructible 1.8L 8V. There is even an A/C line on the passenger side that the 1.6 didn't have. I don't know if the engine was a mistake they rectified, or what. The MkII Jetta was available in China for much longer than other regions, but with facelifts. This however sports the original (85-92) instrument cluster.
I really hope these guys make a MkIII Jetta (VR6 please and thank you!).

I haven't pulled the trigger on this one. Engine detail seems decent. Any Veedub in full access is quite rare too... I'd love to swap some classic BBS in 17-inch size too.
