Shanghai Zhong VW MKVI Polo

There is a new line of recent released Volkswagens made by Shanghai Zhong, some of which include the VW Tiguan, the 4 door Golf GTI, and Polo. Being the VW nut that I am I had to take a chance on getting 1:18 scale Polo in my collection. I bought the Polo after much debate for $95 shipped. I am pleasantly surprise with the new addition!

The box is very detailed (I should of took a photo. No natural light now), full colour with image of the car. Styrofoam shell housing the model and a little tool to open the hood and doors - exactly the same as the Kyosho tool. Overall the model is well done, nice lines on the exterior, and very detailed on the motor and interior bits. Rear shelf/deck is operational as well as all 4 doors, and active suspension too. One thing that really struck me was the functional side mirrors (see photos below). My only negative would be a little glue reside on the dash. I already brought to the attention of the seller. Overall I give the model 8/10. It wouldn't surprise me if this new line of models came out of the same factory as Kyosho... Enjoy the pics!

Great looking model and some nice pics there Kraftig! The details on this model looks good and from your pics I'd say it could be compared to the quality of the Norev WV models. The sunroof isn't right tho. This generation Polo comes with a panoramic sunroof...

Have you seen the 1:18 MKV Polo GTi model thats available on Ebay? I wonder if it is made by the same manufacturer?

Thanks. I would say the quality is better than Norev, as good as Kyosho of old. This model packs a lot of punch, a lot of which took me by surprise. It wouldn't surprise me either if the model was produce in the Kysoho factory.

Yes I've been eying it, I would same same manufacture.

Sash07,
looks like you are attracted to everything yellow
I reckon this model is above Norev quality.
Because there are two 1:18 models of VW Golf Mk.6 GTI: 3-door Norev and 5-door Chinese DE.
Chinese GTI destroys Norev almost in every aspect.
And I believe this Polo is made by the same company.

You're right my summer car is Imola Yellow Audi TT Coupe :poke:

I have the Norev MK5 and MK6 GTI, prefer two doors over four. The MK6 is considerably better than the MK5, not sure how they compare to the Chinese release.

 lol yeah I love my yellow cars :D The last 3 models that I have purchased are all yellow :D I've seen some pics of the 4 door MK.6 GTI and I have to say it looks just as nice and well made as this Polo.I hope this manufacturer could make the Golf R and Scirocco R models

My bigger brother owns a white MK5 Polo Gti so I'm trying to convince him to get the model so I could do a nice comparo between the 1:1 and the model.

Yellow and black trim = SEX ;)

Nice! I'd love to add some Volkswagen R badges to my collection too! Unfortunately for us Canadians we do not have the Polo, Lupo or even the MKII Scirocco available :(

Thanks. Yes, but it needs to sell first... Undecided what the replacement would be, definitely German :)

Daily driver is a MKV Golf, I love her! 2.5l V5 is a torque monster! She's all been a pleasure to drive without issues too

Great looking Golf as well. :okay:
I can imagine how 2.5 L pull the car. But can V-shaped engine have odd number of cylinders?

I think they will stop selling Volkswagens with engines more than 1.8 L everywhere except for North America soon.
Why can't they understand World doesn't really need Economy or Ecology in cars but it needs Torque and Reliability?
Engine downsizing is quite disappointing .

I guess your replacement will be within VAG?

Thanks. This is the best way I can explain the sequence of pistons.

The new generation of the MKVII is surely moving away from the larger displacement motors. Even the likes of domestic brands such as Ford and GM are releasing cars with 2.0l turbos! :rotfl: This was unheard of a few years back.

Mostly likely VAG product, maybe a Porsche, which now is technically VAG ;)
