GMP vs ACME 60's era Trans Am Camaros

Post by Oldtimer » Mon Sep 02, 2019 6:25 pm

Took delivery of the Alan Green Camaro this past week, and have to say that I am pretty disappointed with how ACME has cheapened the model considerably from the prior GMP mold.

The first thing I noticed was the fuel filler, and it goes downhill from there. Here are some side by side pictures between the '67 Alan Green and the '69 Todco.

Here's the trunk detail.

Here's the engine compartment.

Most assuredly the price didn't go down.

The photos don't lie, there is a considerable difference. I guess that's one reason our attempts at samples for review go unanswered :shame:

Interestingly, though, they are very comfortable using the old, thoroughly incorrect, "Trans Am" Mustang molds, where a couple of simple corrections would improve them immensely.

Was it PT Barnum, or WC Fields? I get it confused.

:scratchhead: I have always thought that ACME is less refined and detailed than GMP.

:poke: This is also why I have trust issues and buy new-old-stuffs...

Thanks for the comparison shots.

I will say, as bad as it is (& I agree that it sucks), ACME/GMP is not alone in decontenting their models.
