Ferrari 330 P4 and 412 P

Post by StratosWRC » Thu Feb 27, 2014 5:44 pm

Thought this forum needed to have the best models GMP produced. Enjoy the pics!

Ferrari 330 P4, 1967 Daytona Winner, driven by Lorenzo Bandini and Chis Amon. I ended up buying both the 330P4 and the 412P coupe. I figured there was enough difference between the two to buy them both. The 330 P4 is considered by many to be the most beautiful race car ever built, and I wouldn't disagree. My favourite angle is rear three quarters. A Masterpiece by GMP.

This model also has a little key dangling in the dash.

Ferrari 412P

Targa Florio, never finished due to differential problems. It was driven by Herbert Muller and Jean Guichet. A trio of Porsche 910s won 1-2-3 that year. A car of this size was never meant to win Targa Florio. Curiously enough, the Daytona version had a higher ride height than this coupe, which is strange, considering Daytona was a relatively smooth circuit comparing to street roads (and rocks used as course markings) of the Targa. I'm not surprised that the car didn't finish.

How gorgeous is that rear end!

Again, there are markings on the tire, denoting that it is the right rear.

A key here too, just to the right and above the gearshift.

I've never seen these in detail before, thanks for the pics.

Haha my bad. I should've pointed out that it's the little tan-coloured thing to the right of the steering wheel.

great additions. Really wish I'd grabbed one of these right before GMP went bust...they were relatively cheap.

Simply beautiful cars.

Gavin, nicecardiecast still has them relatively cheap. I got mine for less than 275 a piece shipped.

I agree about this being one of the most beautiful cars ever. Gorgeous gorgeous design.
As I said in other thread I have plain black 312 PB. So I decided I need 330 P4 in plain black to make a great match.
Ordered from Modelissimo and it arrived with heavy paint blistering. They exchanged me for another example which had same problem. :wall:
Disappointed and decided that I don't need it. But of course I lied to myself.
In the end I got #24 version from Le Mans 1967 raced by Belgians and finished at 3rd place.
It has the stripe in Yellow, traditional Belgian race colour. In my opinion it makes the car look amazing.
Really happy it didn't work with black cars. :fingercrossed:

When GoMotorBids was around, they were close to half that price. I should have bought then.

Thought I'd share a photo of the Scuderia Filipinetti 330P4 as seen at the '67 Targa Florio.

Awesome cars and models. I once looked at building a Noble kitcar based on the 330 P4 (just for grabs, half built for sale on Ebay), but the total bill would have been beyond my financial capability. Pity because a completed Noble P4 is one of the few kitcars increasing in value and wouldn't you like owning and driving such a car in 1/1? Most have a V6 but I have seen one with a real Ferrari V12 in the back!

That time (around the millenium change) it would have been around 25K euros (roughly calculated). Secondhand value for P4 kitcars is now between 40K en 75K depending on build quality and engine.
