Shipping in the age of CV19

Post by luft911 » Wed May 27, 2020 9:55 pm

Hi Guys ,
How bad has shipping been for you these days ? I've had 2 boxes coming from Germany to the US - both by DHL / post , one arrived today ( Koons Art Car ) after 6 weeks in motion . The other ( Porsche Museum 1/12 Martini RSR Turbo 2.1 ) hasn't moved out of Germany in 3 weeks . I've got a couple Make Up Porsches sitting in Japan waiting for the US to accept EMS packages again . Even here at home UPS and Fed Ex are kind of slow .

Pretty lousy... I have a package that was shipped from the Netherlands in early April, and yet to receive it...

For shipments coming out of Japan, I have the seller use DHL...More expensive, but at least I’ll receive it within 4 days time...:)

Who knows how longer you need to wait for them to accept EMS...

Took 5 weeks for me to get a model shipped from France (ordered in early April), but once it arrived in the US, it took only 2 days to clear customs and get to my door. Didn't seem a whole lot slower than normal, to be honest.

I still have an outstanding order for 4/3/2020. I don't believe Canada is allowing anything in from Europe at the moment.

Negative. I've received several packages so far from Europe. They take a bit longer but do arrive. Another one from GB is supposed to come tomorrow.

Also check your damn text messages lol

I think CK may have a giant backlog then. Cause I ordered something from TKdiecast a week or two ago and got it last week. He is also in Germany and it literally took 5 business days for the package to come to my door.

From the responses I see I'm not alone . My UPS and Fed Ex drivers tell me the load right now is worse than Christmas with so many doing all their shopping online . Some days they are returning to the depot at 9pm with 30 or 40 undelivered packages . I am surprised by the breakdown of the tracking updates with the mail . The last package from Germany sat in NY for weeks and then arrived with no notice that it had moved . I now have another coming which tracking shows as still in Germany , but I have to wonder if that is in fact the case . I've also got a couple 1/43 Make Up models sitting in Japan awaiting EMS to return to US shipping . I try to put it in perspective given all the heartache and pain out there . It's nothing compared to what many are going through right now .

Actually depends of the shipping company. In the case of CK and Modelissimo they have exclusive contracts with DHL which has a shipping restriction to North America (and prob. other places). Fedex still operates as usual and they are very fast but these 2 model shops refuse to use it.

DHL is defining the root cause of my delays. :wall:

If you brought anything from japan, the only shipping option is DHL. EMS and SAL will not ship internationally. Found this out 1 week ago when I brought something from Japan and the only shipping option available was DHL. At least it got delivered today.

Also received an email from CK yesterday mentioning the increase in shipping cost per model!

I haven't seen this, however, I already paid in full (April)

It really is very specific. DHL from Japan to Australia is working, yet DHL out of Germany was stalled until 2 days ago. Have received stuff from France and Italy, yet not from Spain or Belgium. The other thing I have noticed is the skyrocketing price of postage. CK in their email of a few days ago noted the price was going up. Doesn't help that the Aussie dollar has fallen over the last 6 months compared to the Euro and USD.
