Models a Collector should not be WITHOUT...

Post by [KRAFTIG] » Sun Jun 02, 2013 1:24 am

I'd thought I start a new thread to highlight any genre of models, be it diecast or resin a seasoned collector should not be without. I'll start off with one today and add more as they come to mind... You must include at least one photo, why you think it should be a collector essential, scale, manufacture, make and model :ugeek:

1:18 Minichamps Audi 90 Quattro #4 IMSA GTO

As I said before, one of the best models to come from Minichamps, back in the day when I considered them "my favourite" diecast manufacture and not to mention the history behind here too. Basically put Audi and Quattro on the map! Attention to detail is excellent! Collector's were lucky this car was re-released about a year or so ago as prices were rocketing... They are starting to become scarce again, so get one before your regret it!

I've added this cool video released by Audi just recently...

Definitely one of Minichamps best & a must-have, if you're an Audi collector.

my choice for today...Kyosho's Ferrari F40.

The best 1:18 F40 available, and the last Ferrari approved by Enzo before he passed. A stunning achievement by Ferrari (& Kyosho).

*edit*...mine is the original release.

Everyone needs a Lambo in their collection. The most famous, and maybe the catalyst for the Supercar craze is the Lamborghini Countach. The below example is from Kyosho - 1:18 Countach LP-5000QV, and it MUST be white!

agree on the Countach, KRAFTIG...but any color will do. White is so classic '80's, but I love the yellow & red, also by Kyosho.

My pick for today is Kyosho's Ferrari 250GTO. Also made by Bburago & Hot Wheels Elite, but the Kyosho absolutely blows either one away in detail & exterior shape. One of Kyosho's masterpieces.

Street or racing version...doesn't matter, they're both excellent.

I have the W126 in grey...excellent model. I'd love the other 2...though the current prices of the 600SWB, put it WAY outside my price range.

The Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB by AUTOart is a great model. Seen one first hand, VERY impressed with it!

Porsche 911 RSR Turbo / 934 / 935

I decided to put all of these models in the same category because they have common roots.
Safe to say these series of 911 is the most successful 911 which raced.
So many variants have been made, starting with 911 RSR Carrera (which will become 935 with evolution) to Kremer Racing variants and radical Moby Dick.

Also many manufacturers offer different variants:
  • AutoArt - 911 Carrera RSR Turbo;
    Exoto - 934 and 935/78;
    Carousel - 935/77 and 935 K3;
    Spark - 934 and 935 Moby Dick etc.

Just to add to the above theme. Even though Exoto doesn't always have their fans best interest in heart any serious collector should have an Exoto model in their collection, a Porsche from them is a great way to start! The 935 and 934 are two brilliant examples...

great selections.

My choice for today is the E30 M3. The M3 that started it all & still one of the best. Available from Minichamps or AutoArt...both do street & racing versions. I personally hate the wheels on the Minichamps street cars (rims are too small in diameter, tires are too large in aspect ratio & too narrow in width), but the racers are excellent.

Love the wide fenders, one of my favorite M cars. All collectors should have at least one! :okay:

I know that 24th scale is not very popular but how about these 3 ?!

Franklin Mint 1:24 1937 Alfa Romeo 2900B
CMC 1:24 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK Trossi "Black Prince"
CMC 1:24 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster
