What are your 2013 MODEL OF THE YEAR CANDIDATES?
Re: What are your 2013 MODEL OF THE YEAR CANDIDATES?
Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 is from 2012.
Of 2013 I have Ottomobile BMW E34 M5 and Hot Wheels Elite Ferrari F12. None of which is model of the year.
Also I have CMC Bugatti T35 1929 Monaco GP and BMW E39 M5 Silverstone Metallic which are versions of models released in previous years.
I think strong candidates for MOTY are

- Kyosho Rolls Royce Phantom (if it makes it here before the year's end);
Sun Star Subaru Impreza WRC;
True Scale Lotus 56B;
Welly Porsche 991 Carrera S

Those come to my mind:
Autoart Veyron Sang Noir with immaculate black finish or perhaps Pur Sang due to its complex manufactoring process.
Minichamps M3 DTM, while this will be new (pricy!) icon like Koons' M3.

Re: What are your 2013 MODEL OF THE YEAR CANDIDATES?
My vote is for the AUTOart Alfa Romeo 33TT 12. It is not only IMHO the best racing model that AUTOart has produced to date it also has the best ‘fit’ of any model of this body type that I have seen.
Generally cars with large front and rear body sections like this end up with a bit of a ‘warp’ so that the panels do not fit with a consistent seam line all the way around the car. This is particularly true for cars where the rear section is hinged to the bulkhead behind the cockpit. I have models from Exoto, CMC, GMP, PMA/Minichamps & TSM with this kind of body style and the AUTOart Alfa Romeo beats them all for fit.
The finish is equal to the finish on the top cars as well and unlike some of the others AUTOart gives you a pretty complete livery package as well with razor sharp graphics.
AUTOart also does a masterful job with its cast plastic pieces. Their ability to texture and color plastic to look like metal, fabric, leather, carbon fiber, you name it, is the best in the business.
I’ve been holding my vote until I got the CMC Ferrari 312P. The Ferrari was a car that in real life was nearer and dearer to my heart than the 33TT. The CMC Ferrari is one heck of a model but its fit is not equal to the Alfa and its livery is incomplete. I also give the Alfa a slight edge over what I consider to be CMC’s best model of 2013 the Maserati 300S because the Alfa is a more significant race car and the model is of a race winner and not a back marker like the 300S.
At $100.00 less and as a truly complete model the Alfa Romeo gets my nod over the two great CMC entries

AUTOart over a CMC, that's interesting.
2013 is pretty much over for me. I may buy 1 or 2 models but not they are not serious contenders for the model of the year.
Here is my take :
(In alphabetic order)
BMW M3 DTM (E92) "Team Schnitzer" #7 Bruno Spengler '12 Championship Winner - Minichamps 1/18
Because it looks awesome !
Ferrari F12berlinetta - Hotwheels Elite 1/18
Though choice between this one and the Aventador. Even if I love the Lambo, I made an overdose of it.
Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS 3.8 - GT Spirit 1/18
Obviously. Easily in the top 3.
Porsche 911 (997) Sport Classic - Spark 1/18
One of my favourite 911. Waited ages and finally showed up ! Thank you Porsche for making it.
Porsche 911 (997) GT3R Pikes Peak '12 Romain Dumas - Spark 1/18
Impressive looking 911 and perfect execution.

Not sure if the #7 and #1 BMW M3 DTM cars should be combined as one entry because they're both stunning..going to be a tough vote.

Thinking of the past year, my vote would go to TSM Lotus Turbine car. I gladly post photos later if needed.
