Stunning model! Superb detail for 1/43. It would put some 1/18s to shame!

I didn't know HPI no longer produce diecast...are they switching to resin?

Manufacturer: HPI Racing
Make: Porsche 956 Group C sports racing prototype
Price: Many can be purchased at discount for $49. Some are higher at $63.
Available: Mfr has stopped production, but many are still available in retailer stocks.

Nice detail in the engine area for 1:43 at this price point.

You can add their recent 1:18 Alfa Romeo Racers too. Exceptional quality 50-60% off!

No, they are out of the still, display, model business, refocusing the business on slot cars and RC cars, IIRC.

It's a shame as they made some of the nicest 1:43 diecasts I've seen.

I agree on the caddy easily one of my most detailed and favorite cars.
One model I have to say is under appreciated is the HW61 Hummer H2
Image
Even though many people don't like the H2 or Hummers in general for about $60 (for the sports themed ones) or about $130 (for the plain body models) you can get an amazing model loaded to the gills with detail
They're still available on eBay mainly sport themed ones. But if you want to try it just remove the decals from it and you have a solid model
One other under appreciated model I must have is AUTOarts Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010.
Image
Screen shot from the video game and that's the X2011 which is the same thing but with a larger wing
Is an odd looking car for sure but it answered the question "what would a happen if we made a race car that wasn't restricted by all the rules and regulations?" What would it look like? How would it perform? How fast would it go?
Well based on the video game here's the specs
Horsepower 1500
Top speed well over 300 mph
Cornering over 3Gs
And it's a fan car (much like the chaparral 2J)
I know people won't buy it because "it's not a real car" but aside from being a fan of the game series I want the car for is uniqueness. Because to be honest. I hated the car in the game for a really long time. Nothing can beat it in a fair race not even the chaparral 2J :wall:

I like the X2011, may even get one myself, but does it make the list based on price point?

agreed. Just because a model may not sell well, doesn't really mean its underappreciated (see AA Saturns).

A must-have to rabid fans of Gran Turismo maybe, but even at $150+ that seems a stretch.

AUTOart has the 356 Nr1- seems to always be available; got one myself but wondering why wouldn't a car with such significance In my opinion not sell out?

Most likely due for a few reasons, one it was released initially as a Porsche museum collection I believe a year prior to the hobby version, and second the hobby version it not a limited edition piece so it may have seen multiple production runs.

All the Autoart S197 Mustangs are a great buy, they've been clearance priced for some time. My personal favorite is the Saleen S289 (non extreme) that sell for ~$60.00. Being very familiar with both the Mustang and the Saleen(having sold hundreds of Mustangs and owning a dozen over the years) this model is dead bang on in every regard, including the add-on tail and back panel. The brakes are phenomenal and little details like the blackout panel(s), half covered quarter glass, and open headrests just look so right on this car. Details are above average for a Millennium series. Nice, big diecast for $60, although they are starting to dry up on evil bay lately.

Been toying with the idea of getting one for a long time, but still can't convince myself.

Elite's F430. This livery was 39€ in CK-Modelcars last month (maybe it's still there).
I buyed two more cars so my final price including shipping was very good, it's a great model for the price!
It's cheap on eBay too.
