Spotted on top of the filing cabinet were 3-5 classic Pocher model kits in the box. Sigh, wish I could snag those cheap lol.

Model Heaven on Earth!

That is an amazing story. Based on at least one of the pictures, I can see that the man collected right up to his last days, because he had fairly recent releases like the Greenlight 1967 Chevy Impala sedans and the Auto World 1966 Chevy Biscayne. He had all kinds of cars, in all scales, some neat 1:1 cars, and his brochure collection in all of those filing cabinets must be as impressive as the models.
It's very obvious he was single, too, because it is difficult to have the space, discretionary income, etc. to collect a lot of cars when you are married with children, as I can attest. I have 150 cars, probably 1,000 car brochures, and a wife who tolerates it all as long as it doesn't take over the house. I think it also helps that I encourage her to buy shoes or clothes after a diecast purchase, or sometimes, I simply buy them for her. Also, those of us who are married know it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. LOL!

Not to mention the cool 1:1's in the garage. Just amazing!

Good thing the CFO of the church who has no clue what anything is or what its worth gets to decide what to do with it all.

I know many people think that this is diecast heaven, but for me personally, it looks like a big mess. He looks like he collected every model, and for every halfway decent collectors piece, I see 30 1/32 pull back toys, and at least a million hotwheels! He may have 30,000 cars, but they are mostly toys, not collectables. Granted, there are a few gems that I saw, but they were mostly toys. I think they will have a hard time selling this off to a "true" collector, and should just sell it to a toy shop or hobby dealer.

To each their own... Still credit needs to be granted, quite impressive when you think of it
