Hey, who has the best selection on Corvette's in 1:18 scale? Which models/platforms would you consider to be an essential addition? TIA!!

I would hardly call my self an Vette-Expert!
I have a suggestion in general though - please do not left out other scales and my request is please include icons like Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint in the Forum. Maybe 24th scale is not very popular but see this and decide for your self:

Nothing against the FM/DM cars or fans, but I think AA does a better job of most of these models in 1:18.

AA makes models in every generation & they're generally very good. Maisto had some here & there, Ertl does a bunch...and then there are the one-offs, GMP, Carousel 1, etc.

C1 ('53-62)
AA does the '53, 54, 59 & 62. I don't have any of these, but plan on getting all but the '54. Bburago/Maisto did the '57 & I think Ertl did some as well.

C2 ('62-67)
AA only does the '63 in Split Window Coupe or Roadster form. GMP does an excellent '65 in both Coupe (No Split Window...that was '63 only) or Roadster. Maisto does a very nice '65 Coupe in a bunch of colors. Exoto does the '65 Coupes & the awesomely brutal Grand Sports (also available in non-livery version :okay: )

Ertl '67 427

C3 ('68-82)
AA does the '69 (Roadster), 70, 78 & 82's (all T-Top Coupes). AA used UT's mold for the '78's...which are very nice & not that expensive & come in more colors than AA's. Welly also does the '82, but its not as good as their recent models)

UT '78 (red) & AA '82 Collectors Edition (silver)

Revell '69 427...a nice older budget model that has the better looking Rally wheels (compared to AA's '69)

Carousel 1 makes an awesome looking '69...in black, it is sinister looking!
Image

C4 ('84-96)
AA does only the '86. Maisto does the facelifted '92+ cars, including the ZR1. Ertl does the '84.

C5 ('98-04)
UT & AA are hands down the best.

AA '04 Z06 Commemorative Edition (the BEST C5, In my opinion)

C6 ('05-13)
AA's '05 (Coupe & Roadster) & '06 Z06 are the best...though HW's Z06 is good, too.

You forget on of the most legendary Corvette on the market, the 1978 Official Pace car, a rare one on the market today, made by UT Model, a must have in a collection of Corvette :okay:

Thank you both! A solid start here!! I love the Rally wheels. They bring back memories when I was young. My cousin bought a '78 Vette almost new, many years later he sold it to another cousin who fully restored her to better than new, the wheels of course RALLY! I'll see if I can get some pics to post.

I agree whit the review; if you want a Corvette collection you must buy many brands.

Autoart made nice quality Corvette, ERTL do an honest job for some model, for the 1967, the best choice should be the GMP, but you will have to pay an high price if you are able to find one.

This one is interesting:

Interesting, but if I decide to expand the Vette collection I need to draw the line somewhere :wall:

There are some outstanding racing Vettes from AUTOart that I don't see on that list of models and also the Mako Shark and Stingray prototypes.
Thanks...I didn't include the racers (& there are TONS of good ones) because I know KRAFTIG's collection...only "naked" race cars, no livery.

GP I knew that based on past Maisto models, but I didn't think it was that bad

I think I'm going to expand the Vette collection. First two will be the following:

AUTOart: 71183 - Chevrolet Corvette 1963 Coupe, Riverside Red, Limited Edition 6,000 pcs Worldwide
AUTOart: 71173 -Chevrolet Corvette 1970, Laguna Gray Metallic, Limited Edition 6,000 pcs Worldwide

I love the 70's C3 body style and the rally wheels!

Good minds think alike... It looks soooo hot in the grey! Split window '63 looks great in all colours available but I decided on the red.
