GT Spirit Porsche 911 (991) GT3 RS

Post by David » Sat Jul 15, 2017 5:00 pm

You guys know how much I love blue 911s especially Riviera blue. You can imagine my reaction the day GT Spirit displayed a 991 GT3 RS in that particular colour...Perfect combo!

I used to own 3 GT3 RSes from Spark (Lava orange, Ultraviolet and Birch green) and sold them. Mainly because I hate how people went crazy after these models, which are nice but definitely overrated. I'm happy that GT Spirit, AUTOart and Minichamps are killing this stupid little game.

So, how does the GT Spirit compare to the Spark?
Spark has a better finish and the rear (tail lights) is much more accurate. For the price asked, GT Spirit did a good job but you can tell the price gap on some small details such as the rear wing -My god, these supports are thick!!I hope one day GT Spirit will get rid of these thick rear wing supports and use photoetch parts instead- or the undercarriage. The wheels on the GT Spirit are far more accurate in size than the Spark which was out of scale. This always bothered me!

All in all, the differences are quite limited in my opinion. I can't wait to add the Miami blue from AUTOart!

Great photos as usual David. I think it could use a little lowering too. I sold my Spark version based on the AUTOart announcement, I hope they do the car justice! :)

Thanks, Dave!
Yes, slightly. I think the wheels are slightly too large.
I can't wait to see AUTOart's final product. Hope they fix the incorrect rear wheels on the prototype.

Very cool! I got one of these as well and I've been looking to dig out my Spark version to compare the two myself.

PS David, I know you on Flickr! One of the big inspirations for me collecting 1/18 Porsches was your pictures.
