VOTING NOW OPEN! DIECASTSOCIETY.COM 2020 MODEL OF THE YEAR!!

First and foremost, we want to wish the scale model community a fantastic and memorable Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank you to those who directly support us and our efforts, we truly appreciate you. THANK YOU.

2020 hasn’t been the best year on many levels, the pending pandemic is still a monumental task for communities all over the globe. As we struggle to find a cure and return to normalcy the stresses upon the family are still the number one concern. Take this time to best leave the troubles behind and huge those important to you, well as best as one can while practicing social distancing.

We compiled a list of what we believe are some of the outstanding efforts from 2020. Those that used our various media vehicles to provide their viewpoint, we thank you once again. We understand this is a perfect science, and we’ll never make “everyone” happy.

That being said, 2020 we think will be earmarked as the return of good old diecast metal. The final candidate list has a number (actually 76% make up this year’s list) of finalists made in diecast metal, something we haven’t seen in a number of years… This list also represents something that spoke to you, made an impact, poked a certain nostalgic memory. In the end, and as mentioned in previous years, it isn’t the most expensive or the most inexpensive model that wins. VOTE for what you believe is the best effort or manufacture of 2020. It is impossible for us to list every single release of 2020. What we share below are 20 finalists and the most memorable of the bunch.

Solido has been on fire this year with some spectacular efforts, all in diecast metal and all being mindful of price. On the topic of budget-friendly we can’t forget Bburago/Maisto, they too have released some beauties. The Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 and Ferrari Monza SP1 come to mind. How about KK-Scale, bringing back affordability to the Ferrari marque!

Moving up the ranks, Almost Real has been relatively quiet, though their effort on the 1:18 Bentley Mulsanne Grand Limousine is splendid indeed. A number of efforts from AUTOart this year, and their list is long, some include the 1:18 McLaren 720S, Koenigsegg Regera and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. BBR has the resin and 1:18 Ferrari F8 Spider and the outstanding Ferrari LaFerrari in diecast with full 360 access! We also need to mention LCD Models who are slowly moving up the ranks. A switch from SUV to supercars of late is creating a lot of well-deserved conversation and debate. Their latest, the McLaren 600LT is an exceptional effort, exceeding that of industry giant AUTOart in price and execution. And it’s diecast metal too!

In the end, please vote. Be nice and be fair. That is all we ask of you.
