An insider source tells DiecastSociety.com that the latest batch of the recently released “Stainless Steel” finished DeLorean DMC-12’s will most likely be the last produced in diecast metal! This would make the ultimate collector item!! It seems the finishing process was more challenging than originally anticipated by the AUTOart team. About 80% of the intended models were scrapped, as they did not meet quality control standards imposed by AUTOart and DeLorean. Hence the recently introduce Matt black DMC-12. This model wasn’t even on the radar...

That is fantastic, so instead of taking a loss they add some makeup and sell the rejects as matt black edition. Crafty buggers.

Horrible car in my opinion, but if this is true then it should be a good "investment" for those that play that game.

If this were a Lamborghini, I would have ordered my 10 by now. However, being a car that some people love and most people hate, I am really wondering how the value of these will change once all the satin metals have been sold.

how can you hate the Delorean. Yes it was a performance dud but it still was a VERY unique car........VERY UNIQUE. What a back story as well. How many automotive CEO's now in days are like A list celebrities just like John Delorean.

Its an 80's icon and did its best with what it had. IMHO its out grown the Back To The Future image and doesn't rely on it alone for people to recognize it.

Personally, the whole John Delorean Story could be made into a movie its that good. If they made it like "American Hustle" or "Blow" it would be a huge hit.

style is a funny thing........people hate the styling of the Ferrari F50 but I feel its just looks 90's, kinda like how the F40' looks 80's. To me, the Delorean is the 80's and for that it gets a nob from me
