Yat-Ming Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Roadster #10

Post by Gavin » Wed Sep 16, 2015 12:22 pm

Driven by Thompson/Guldstrand in the 1966 12 Hours of Sebring.

This model represents the car in its current restored state and as such, there are many differences from the Exoto's "as raced" versions. Very impressed with the execution of this model. Missing lots of details compared with the Exoto, but for $20, I love it.

Wow I had to do a double take that this was in fact a YM piece. Hold up well to its more expensive brother.

It is really well done. I wish they'd done more models like this.

I had actually planned on selling it, but after having it out for pics, I'm rethinking it.

Wow $20?

I was in search of the Exoto last year, found the Corvette for $80... and went "Wow $80 for an Exoto? What a steal!" Bought it, brought it home, and found out it was a Yatming. Didn't know Yatming made this at the time and then I felt stupid for paying $80 for a Yatming.

On a brighter note, this looks significantly better than the brand's Shelby Cobra & Cobra Daytona. And all you need is a few decals to make it look really close to the Exoto anyway.

YM is really hit or miss. This is one of their hits for sure. The Cobra is ok (both SC & Kyosho do it better), but the Daytona is bad, In my opinion.

Unfortunately, since Yat-Ming chose to create the restored version, you need more than a couple of decals. First you need to lose that front spoiler.
