yo listen. You all heard about StratosWRC selling his goods.

This is one of them:

Take off the head rest that serves as a pin, the back end (quite literally) falls off.

I'm so glad the previous owner did not disassemble it back to its original state. Apparently putting it back in its box means you have to take it apart. Can't imagine what kind of nightmare that could be.

I'll leave the blogpost here if you want to get some larger resolutions: http://athobbies.blogspot.ca/2017/05/ph ... short.html

I was going to say Ferrari but I was wrong. This thing is a marvel of engineering; did it arrive in one piece?

I'm unsure if that is a jab at Wes himself, but yes it did arrive in one piece.

Nothing like that. I've heard the model is extremely fragile being so detailed.

LB Huracan Wordddddddd

Post by AOS » Sun May 14, 2017 8:37 pm

Here's one most of you don't know about.

It's by GS Models. Produced in an assortment of colours. I'd have grabbed the yellow, but whenever purple- a deep dark purple is available, I don't look back.

Image

Image

Image

Image

The colours do shine bright, but it's difficult to capture all 3 main shades this paint can shift to.

Image

Yep I said colour-shifting.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I hate these wheels.

Real slots!

Image

Polypropylene engine. Classic.

Image

Huracan + extra fender/splitter/diffused flare + dark colour = one mean looking car.

64 of 99 pieces.

Comes with case and base. Paint smells extremely toxic out of the box. Must be a good thing, no? *wink*

Ferrari 488 GTE BBR

Post by AOS » Tue Jun 27, 2017 9:54 am

Hello old folk and butthead lurkers, I've got a new one to show, one I don't recommend buying:

It's time to post this. If you can help it, don't go out of your way for this.

Image

Image

I'm unsure what the standards are with BBR, but when they're asking for the amount they go for, it would seem reasonable to be expecting quite a bit. All I know is their quality control went to poop for some time, there is a much cheaper replica of the same Ferrari with the same livery by another brand - what I bought this for, so this post may contain more nitpicking than usual.

Image

The plain body models were great too, as the shape of the car has a lot going on, but I cannot resist a colourful livery.

Image

Image

The edges of the front lamps were the spottiest parts I noticed immediately. Looks like the cut edges weren't cleaned up fully.

Image

Image

Image

The matte black bonnet hook covers weren't an extra piece. It was just painted over the body. It works, but that's a bit of a let down.

Image

Solid mesh. Spectacular.....you'll see why later.

Image

Image

Image

Speaking solely on the level of craftsmanship, this duct is probably the best orifice on the entire car. The tight spaces are done up smoothly even to the edges, and it's real mesh too!

Image

Image

Woo engine.... still looks like plastic, but everything else looks pretty good.

Image

Image

BBR did a good job with the tail light and accompanied by the mesh here as well.

Image

The carbon fiber wrapping looked to be without flaws. The whole diffuser system down there is probably my next favourite thing about this model.

Image

Image

Image

Great model overall. I'd say this is about as good as a Spark model, speaking solely of the exterior alone. The two liveried Astons I have looks just as good, and only come at a big fraction of the cost too. It's likely too early to say it, but unless you're a Ferrari Fanatic, and unless it just so happens to be this particular model not being a good representation of the average quality of models, you may not need to look into BBR's resins. There are plenty of other brands out there that do just about the same level of work, give or take a few finer features, but for the most part, I'm not seeing a differentiator from Spark, Ignition, or Top Marques.

butthead lurkers
First off LOL! :D

The model looks spectacular in your images. Also I think comparing to the Spark is somewhat unfair. I've reviewed many Spark models and recently the ALFA ROMEO GIULIA QUADRIFOGLIO from BBR CONCEPT 18 series, I would say without hesitation the BBR Concept 18 excels on almost all levels. It's a brilliant piece!

PS - Can I publish your short review? TIA

Awesome pictures! I do have a thing for yellow headlights. I considered adding the plain white version but luckily it sold out before I could spend money on it.

Great piece and superb pictures! I'd agree with you are definitely nitpicking, LOL! Yes those goes for a lot of money but with BBR the quality is here. Though I'd be interested to see a comparison with the Looksmart.

MSZ has the Looksmart. The model doesn't look very smart though.
