ACME Allan Moffat’s #33 Brut 1969 Trans Am Boss 302 Mustang

Seventies racing doesn’t get any more raw than this. ACME under the “Real Art Replica” label is releasing their first 1:18 scale, resin model. The car in question is Allan Moffat’s #33 Brut 1969 Trans Am Boss 302 Mustang. Wide fenders,large wheels and Brut livery do make for an exiting piece. Detailed interior is well adapted too. Estimated production is possibly 1000 pieces. Retail is suggested at $189.95US.

Yes, it is a Boss 302-based racer; no it is not a "Trans Am" racer; but at least ACME, by using the tired Welly mold, gets the fuel induction system correct, this one did run with four, two-throat Webers.

Well I don't know for a fact. What puzzles me is the price, it cost more than the average GMP diecast piece with opening bits! :doh:

I do have to say that it is a new body mold, in terms of the fender flares, offset by the total lack of detail underneath the car.

Would be interesting to get one to see if an old Welly chassis and interior would fit underneath the resin, but then you'd still have a sealed hood (which can be overcome - working on something similar right now). Plus, would be a neat project to take a splash mold off the flares, to create some to bond onto the older Welly-based bodies.

For me, I might be on the sidelines until the rest of the market reacts.
