Tribute - Porsche Carrera GT '04

Post by David » Sun Aug 04, 2013 5:40 pm

Next year we will have the chance to celebrate the 10th anniversary (yes 10 !!) of the Carrera GT.

Here's a tribute topic to this fantastic auto, the last of its era. NA V10, RWD, manual tranny and a timeless design = this car reaches perfection in my book. Nothing will come close enough, never. I friggin' LOVE this car and I would do crazy things to put my bottom inside and even crazier stuff just to drive it.

Feel free to post anything related to the Carrera GT : modelcars, 1/1, ...

Regarding the models, Tamiya failed to make the best representation of the car just because of the headlamps which are place too low. This little detail changes deeply the front fascia In my opinion.

The AUTOart is still the best replica available on the market if you expect exterior accuracy. :okay:

wow...can't believe the CGT is almost 10 years old. A very timeless design that is aging beautifully, In my opinion. Still my favorite supercar from that time period, bar none.

Had the Maisto Concept for a number of years & finally stepped up to the Minichamps production car (both really well done).

Saw this 1:1 last summer at a local car show...owned by Indy driver Graham Rahal (the show was sponsored by his dad & current boss, Bobby)

I like the car a lot.
But sadly I have never seen it in person.
Also I don't have the model.
Minichamps one has wrong proportioned front to my eyes.
And I don't know which AutoArt I should get because there are so many versions.
Standard, upgraded, white, red, black, silver with black interior, silver with brown interior etc.
I can't figure which is what.
Also I know AutoArt Carrera GT suffer from paint mismatch between body and bumpers.
What would you suggest?

White, white, white, and white ;) Honestly this is a must have for any collector. Get what you can find for a good deal or what colour you like best.

I was also thinking between Autoart and Minichamps and at the end I bought M'champs. The leather interior is a big plus and I also found those lights prettier and not that bad. At some angles I found them better than AA. For me the only minus is the engine compartment, the carbon part in particularly. The greenish doesn't looked right.

At the end, this is the only PMA I still have, the rest was rubbish compared to AA. And yes, I recommend it, even if it is not in white :-)

this would be my advice as well. They're both really nice models (as are the budget Maisto & Motormax versions). You really can't go wrong with either.
