Almost Real: Closer Look @ Land Rover Defender 90

It really has been a long process with the Almost Real brand.  Many months of talking about their assortment and new upcoming models, but little to nothing has been officially released.  News today on their upcoming 1:18 Land Rover Defender 90.  The replica is based on the 2 millionth Land Rover Defender 90 made, which sold at auction a few years back for more than $650,000 CND.  The model is surprisingly well detailed; engine, interior, undercarriage and working suspension show a well balance piece.  Along with being a limited edition of 1999, each piece will ship with AR collectible certification.  Not sure if that holds much weight with collectors, it isn’t important to us.  Nonetheless we included an image of the proposed certificate.

That´s bloody well done!!!!! Not a surprise, though, and not long in the making either if compared to, let´s say, the Agera R by …. what was the company´s name again … awh, well, I´ve placed a pre-order ages ago. They´ll come back again when, err, if they´ve finally managed to get anywhere with it, or will they?

Does it come in all black ?

Does anyone have this model ? I hesitate with the Kyosho version but this one seems better. Any advice is welcome ^^

  4. Kin says:

I have both the Kyosho and the almost real Defender.
Yes, AR is better compared to Kyosho, but not a lot better.
I got the Kyosho Green defender at almost half the price of the AR,
at this price point, Kyosho is a better deal.

  5. Adam says:

AR have better suspension and the doors close flush. Kyosho have poor door closure, especially the near side door which is never flush on ANY of their LR 1:18 models. However, up on a shelf the Kyosho look every bit as good and they’re cheaper. Depends what you want. I have three AR Defenders and two Kyosho Defenders. I love them all.
