Amalgam 1:8 Bentley Blower 2nd Le Mans 1929

Another stunning replica makes it to market from the Amalgam brand.  Today we share their latest venture the 1:8 Bentley Blower, 2nd Le Mans 1929.  This handcrafted replica features layers of details, and it should.  Retail is north of $10,000!  The Bentley Blower does have access to the motor with hinged hood panels.  Detail is quite remarkable as the photos will show.  Unfortunately not much else is accessible though.  Please contact Amalgam for more information or availability.

About the Bentley Blower…  “The dashing Bentley Boys first won the Le Mans 24 Hours 90 years ago. But behind the glamour and the partying was a ruthless, win-at-all-costs mentality.  The Birkin Bentley Blower is named for Sir Henry Birkin, known widely by the nickname Tim.  He was famed at the time as a top racing driver, always dapper in his trademark silk neckerchief flapping in the wind as he tore around Brooklands, the Nurburgring or Le Mans.  This model, The Birkin Bentley Blower was raced to 2nd Place by Jack Dunfee and Glen Kidston at Le Mans in June 1929.”

Great model, and one of their better pieces, but Not new.

They started producing, showing, and selling these models back in 2013…..or possibly before then.

So is this a re-run or a new version as on their website it shows out of stock ?
My Holy Grail,so if it was a out again i may be tempted this time, what would the total number of builds be for this Beauty.

I just looked at their site again, and on the page for this model it does not show it as out of stock, but I did not bother to try to add it to shopping basket. Maybe it is the browser??

It is Not a new version. Same as when they first introduced it. Amalgam will continue to build just about any model in their big catalog. They used to limit their editions, but the quantities were very often set too high for this type of model…. i.e. 99 or 199 pieces. For model at this price point, the edition sizes were/are too many. That said, now they only occasionally limit any particular model or edition, so for most of their models, including this Bentley they do not list any limits…….they will build as many as they can sell, which is why they do not write any limit in their description.

On another note…… the people at Amalgam need to do a better job with their written descriptions which are not only lacking information, but show incorrect information. An example of that is at the bottom of the brief and basic information about this Bentley model; the last little paragraph states:
“Please note that there are no opening or moving parts on this model.”

What the heck???!! Look at the photos – the hood opens and so does the pass side door…. same as in their photos!! and same as when I first saw one of these models in person.
