Amalgam Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic – Blue/Black

We’re not sure if the model is new, but the lighting feature is a first. Amalgam introduces another layer of detail into their assortment. Considered one of the best in the business, the execution of the 1:8 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic is just superb. The additional headlight outfit is the icing on the cake for some. All this craftsmanship does come at a price. Add a bespoke angle and the price increases two fold. Pricing for the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic does start at $10,000 plus US.

This looks a lot less convincing than the CMC. It´s more like those pieces of bed furniture that resemble cars.

I agree. This just makes me appreciate what CMC does even more.

Their pictures are really bad and that’s a shame because these models are jewels. I saw the blue one in person exposed at the Bugatti store in London and I can tell you it is just perfect.

    • Wes says:

That’s cause most of what you’re looking at is made out of resin. CMC looks convincing cause they use metal, leather etc. The seats here are plastic and so is the entire body. They’re nowhere near CMC detail

If you haven’t seen an Amalgam up close in person, then you can’t appreciate what these fine art pieces are-most are 3D imaged from the real car and have perfect proportions–CMC? not so much……..

    $10,000 for a 1/18 scale model? I hope that’s a typo

LOL oh sign me up, i waana burn money,,,

You can NOT compare a CMC model to an Amalgam. That is an unrealistic, and unfair comparison to both CMC and Amalgam. Two completely different types of models and production philosophies.

I am not a fan of Amalgam, but I understand and appreciate how their models are made. I have seen very many of them in person, and have bought and sold a number of them on behalf of some of my clients. I buy and sell high end models of all types in all scales as part of my business.

I don’t like the lighting feature – it’s just another thing that will eventually have a problem, and as a few of the best model builders in the world have often said,…. it makes the modes a little more like toys than fine collectibles or real craftsmanship.

My personal collection is comprised of everything from 1:87 Spark models up to 1:10 scale one of a kind scratch builts, and everything in between. I also have several CMC models in my collection, which are all very good, but each is flawed in various ways. And no I don’t have any Amalgam pieces.
