GT Spirit New 1:18 & 1:12 September/October Releases

We have the remaining new models for September and October from GT Spirit and a few questions too!  In total there are four new models to share, the feature car is the 1:18 BMW M2 Coupe in Blue.  Is it me or does the recent Minichamps release look better?  Something is off, wheels too small maybe?  What is it!?!  Also we can’t tell by the available images if the grilles are solid or perforated.

From their 1:12 scale series comes the Porsche 911 (991) GT3 RS 2016, nice!  Kyosho will have some competition with their recent announcement of the Lamborghini Diablo Jota SE30 (Violet), GT Spirit is doing the same in White.  Most likely both models were crafted by GT Spirit, which means quality should be on par.  Though what is up with the 149 Euro price point? 50 Euro more than your typical GT Spirit resin piece.  GT Spirit do you care to explain why?  Last but not least we have the Gemballa MIG-U1 in 1:18 scale.  All models will be released in September with one exception, the Gemballa MIG-U1, it will be on shelves in October.

About the BMW M2 Coupe…  “The small BMW coupé adopted the nomenclature reserved usually for far sportier cars that came out the doors of the Bavarian factories. This M2 is 80mm larger than a regular series 2 and includes air intakes, rims, and two double exhaust pipes, all exclusive to this Motorsport version. With its rear-wheel drive and 6-cylinder line, it is no doubt a proud standard-bearer for the sports history of BMW. The coupé M2 has 370 hp and can be equipped with a double-declutch 7-gearbox.”

That M2 is definitely off. The front is off and probably the wheels are too small not sure. As for the S30 price the answer is simple they had to get align with the Kyosho since they are making the purple for them. By contract or just fair business practice. That just shows how much resin pieces are overpriced and Manufacturers or distributors profits are juicy.

Agree the M2 looks wrong, and the Diablo is also far from perfect. GTS have released some fairly bad models lately, what with these and the Koenig Ferraris. As for the Lambo pricing, I expect it’s the same issue as Spark’s DE Porsches – licensing costs. Porsche and Lamborghini are both owned by VW after all…

What a miss on the Diable SE30?

The nose shape looks off, and both the splitter and the front of the sills/rocker should be closer to the ground. I’m not convinced the shape of the sill is entirely accurate, and the shape of the back of the door is definitely wrong. I don’t know what’s going on with GTS lately but this is another one where it looks like the paint is really thick.

It’s nowhere near as bad or obvious as the Koenigs or the M2, it’s just not all that great. €150 is Spark pricing (except those DE Porsches), and this looks to be miles away from their level.

Is that Gemballa MIG-U1 owned by Mr. T? :)
